The Spurs defense put the clamps down once again on the Nuggets in the second half and took the series victory with a 93-78 win Wednesday night. Denver’s point total was the lowest of any of the five games of the series with the Spurs only giving up 30 in the final two periods (11 points in the 3rd and 19 in the 4th). The Spurs held the Nuggets to 38% shooting in the contest.

Michael Finley set a Spurs playoff franchise record and a career best with eight three pointers in the contest. The former record was seven by Bruce Bowen set in 2003. Finley’s night from behind the arc was just one short of the franchise record set by Chuck Person with nine in 1997. Finley was the game’s leading scorer with 26 points hitting on 8-of-9 from long distance.

Tim Duncan and Tony Parker scored 26 and 16, respectively. Parker led all players with 10 assists and Duncan led the team with 10 boards. The Spurs bench also contributed 22 points.

Just like in 2005 when the Nuggets jumped out to a 1-0 series lead over the Spurs, the Spurs were able to fight back and win four straight and take the series.

With the win the Spurs advance into the Western Conference Semifinals for the seventh straight year. The Spurs will now look to move on to Western Conference Finals for the fourth time.
