This trip I had the opportunity to go back to my homeland: Good ol' New England. I grew up an hour north of Boston in the beautiful city of Concord, New Hampshire. Like I've stated before, Concord is the motherlode of sandwich shops… Back when I was growing up, we'd get them from local spots like The Yellow Submarine, Ordway's, Veano's, and Milano's. But the sandwich shop we most frequently visited was D'Angelo's.
D'Angelo's is a New England staple. It first opened in Dedham, Massachusetts over 40 years ago. Since then, it has grown to over 200 locations across New England. Like I said, it's a staple. Sorry Subway and Quizno's, but D'Angelo's is the king sandwich chain in these pahts.
"Matt! Come down and eat! Grindah's from D'Angelo's!"
I grew up on D'Angelo's. Believe it or not, it's the first place I ever ate a grinder. I remember going there after my Rec League basketball games back in the 80s. I'd get a turkey "grindah" with sour cream and onion chips. I can even remember that my mom would get a chicken stir-fry "pocket" (their version of a pita, I guess… They were so ahead of their time). So you can imagine my excitement when I found a D'Angelo's right across the street from our hotel.
