The chicken souvlaki sub turned out to be a big hit. Everyone loved it. The pita bread was soft and tasty. The lettuce, tomatoes, peppers and onions were fresh and crisp. The chicken was tender and seasoned to perfection. Lastly, the taziki sauce was just right.
I love taziki sauce. I swear I could drink it in all it's garlicky glory. The best part is the taste lasts in your mouth the rest of the night…
It might have been the best sandwich I've had this year. I'm already looking forward to next season's trip to Charlotte for this reason. I would highly recommend the Hero House to everyone and I hope one day I make it to Winston-Salem so I can eat there in person. Despite this, I can't say it was the hoagie grail. I'm looking for a sandwich with mythical properties. A legend. So I will keep searching.
Sandwich Quote of the Day: "Swiss cheese is the only cheese you can draw and people can identify. You can draw American cheese, but someone will think it's cheddar. It's also the only cheese you can bite and miss. "Hey Mitch - does that sandwich have cheese on it?" "Every now and then!" -- Mitch Hedberg
