For dessert I had a piece of their strawberry cheesecake. You always hear about "New York cheesecake" and this is why. It was amazing.

I thought going to Carnegie Deli was going to be like any other well known tourist trap. I figured it would be over-hyped, crowded, and disappointing. This was not the case. I am very happy to have had the opportunity to eat there. I think every sandwich fan should try and experience Carnegie Deli at least once. More than once and you might start experiencing heart problems.

As for the hoagie grail. I don't know. I like pastrami, but when I picture the ultimate sandwich, that's not what I see. There weren't enough other elements to bring everything together. It was just two pieces of bread with half a foot of cured meat in between. I want to see better bread, beautiful sauces, fresh vegetables, perfect cheese, and some other intangible to put it over the top. So although I experienced the most famous deli in the world, I did not find the hoagie grail. Until I do, I shall continue my quest with zeal and vigor.
