Silver & Black Give Back Announces Team Up Challenge Semifinalists
The school-based Team Up Challenge awards funding and incentives to classrooms and clubs for their commitment to improving their community. The program will run throughout the 2010-11 school year with 20 classes awarded $2500 in seed funding to complete their project. Projects will address needs in one of five categories: health & wellness, education, environment, uniformed services and arts & culture. Throughout the school year, the semifinalists will be awarded incentives to encourage their projects, including tickets, player appearances and prizes.
At the end of the school year, five of the 20 classes will be awarded a grant of $20,000 for the work they have done to improve our community.

Silver & Black Give Back is a 501(c)(3) public charity. The charity was originally created in 1988, when there was only one team in the SS&E family and has historically been known as the Spurs Foundation.
Today, Silver & Black Give Back serves as a fundraising conduit for youth sports and education based service programs throughout San Antonio and South Texas.
Silver & Black Give Back supports two premier initiatives; the Team Up Challenge and youth sports programs such as the Spurs Youth Basketball League.
The Spurs Youth Basketball League, presented by Pizza Hut and Valero, was developed by Spurs Head Coach Gregg Popovich and Kids Sports Network founder Frank Martin in 1990. The program celebrated its 20th Anniversary last year, and has grown to annually engage more than 20,000 South Texas youth in a positive basketball experience.
The 2011 Tux ‘N Tennies Dinner and Auction, presented by SWBC is the premier annual fundraiser of Silver & Black Give Back. This season’s Tux ‘N Tennies will be held February 26, and features live and silent auctions and exciting entertainment.
