Steve Smith Hosts Basketball Clinic

Although San Antonio Spurs guard Steve Smith usually goes to Racquetball and Fitness’ exclusive new Spectrum Club to work out, on Saturday, Aug. 17, Smith went there for fun. Smith was on hand to host a one-hour clinic for the children of Spectrum members, ages 8-12.

The clinic included a 15-minute presentation where Smith discussed his childhood and his path to the NBA, a 30-minute drill session that included a shootout contest, and the last 15 minutes reserved for an autograph session.

Smith was traded from the Portland Trail Blazers to the San Antonio Spurs in 2001. He is an active member of the San Antonio community, and serves as spokesman for the Georgia chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. He recently received the 2002 NBA Sportsmanship Award, which honors a player who best represents the ideals of sportsmanship on the court.
