Spurs Sports & Entertainment And Waste Management Add Recycling To AT&T Center Green Initiatives

SAN ANTONIO, December 8, 2009 – Spurs Sports & Entertainment and Waste Management have partnered together to add another step toward the goal to become one of the greenest venues in the country with the institution of a new recycling program at the AT&T Center.

Recycling containers will be accessible for fan usage at all Spurs, Rampage, Silver Stars and AT&T Center events and concerts. Recycling containers will be able to accept standard recyclable items, generally paper, plastic and metal cans. Receptacles will be placed on all levels (Charter, H-E-B Fan Zone, Plaza), suites and also located on the AT&T Center grounds.

In addition, recycling efforts have also been incorporated into the day-to-day operations of Spurs Sports & Entertainment. Containers and bins have been added to employee offices and work stations to help staff recycle on a daily basis.

Spurs Sports & Entertainment is proud of the environmentally friendly steps the AT&T Center has instilled to become a ‘green’ venue, including:

  • Paper, plastic and aluminum recycling containers throughout the AT&T Center and executive offices
  • 100% wind powered arena – operating the building on clean, renewable wind Energy
  • Installed water-saving fixtures throughout the public and private areas.
  • Cooling towers use recycled water – combined with the water-saving fixtures – AT&T Center will save 13.2 million gallons of water annually
