Team Up Anytime: ALL SEASON

A service-learning initiative that gives students a chance to apply learning to the real world, away from the classroom. It connects life experiences to curriculum, bringing education alive in powerful ways. Students identify a need in their community and work to establish a change. Past projects have rescued animals, created outdoor learning centers and partnered with the San Antonio Food Bank to feed over 4,000 children.

 




CPS Teacher of the Game: ALL SEASON

Nomination deadline: February 17, 2012

The Spurs and Rampage recognize outstanding area teachers at each regular season home game! Honorees are those who have a profound and lasting effect on their students, who have a passion and gift for teaching and who go beyond the call of duty to ensure their students succeed in school and are prepared for future success in life.




Elementary: 1st - 5th Grades



High Five Readers Challenge: January 9, 2012 – February 3, 2012

Registration deadline: December 19, 2011

Spurs Sports & Entertainment along with SACU and Magic 105.3 host a four-week reading contest that encourages 1st through 5th grade students to exercise their minds and imaginations by spending more of their free time reading. Students must read a required number of books for their grade level.




Rampage Stick with Reading: October 11, 2011 – February 17, 2012

Nomination deadline: February 17, 2012

The Rampage and the UPS Store reward 1st through 5th grade students that meet reading goals assigned from their teachers. The Rampage also encourage students to spend more time reading overall. Teachers determine reading goals based on a current student's needs. Students are nominated to win great prizes when they reach 100% of their goal!






Whataburger What'cha Reading: September 19, 2011 – October 21, 2011

Entry deadline: October 28, 2011

Spurs Sports & Entertainment and Whataburger reward 1st through 4th grade students who improve their reading scores or who have exceptional reading habits. Certificates are mailed to San Antonio area public elementary schools.
*Please note this program only applies to 1st through 4th grade public school students



Middle School: 6th - 8th Grades



LOGOS Vocabulary: October 11, 2011 – December 11, 2011

Registration deadline: November 4, 2011

Spurs Sports & Entertainment and IKON hold a vocabulary contest for 7th and 8th grade students that challenge their vocabulary and stress the importance of knowing the meaning of a word, rather than just how to spell it.
*Please note this program on applies to 7th and 8th grade students






Slam Dunk Middle School Reading Challenge:  January 23, 2012 – February 3, 2012

Registration deadline: December 15, 2011

Spurs Sports & Entertainment and IBC present a two week reading competition for 6th through 8th grade classes. This competition challenges students to set aside their own special time to read and also encourages students to choose their own reading materials.






Whataburger Winner's Circle:  ALL SEASON

Registration deadline: Frebruary 1, 2012

Spurs Sports & Entertainment and Whataburger reward hard working middle school students who strive to do their best in and out of the classroom. The Winner's Circle encourages students to be good citizens and conscientious individuals who display behaviors like being on time to class, completing all their homework, leading their peers and more! Certificates are mailed to San Antonio area public middle schools.




High School Seniors:

Each season, local high school scholars benefit from Silver & Black Give Back scholarships. High School seniors interested in applying for scholarships should visit with their school's counseling office in the fall and ask for the Minnie Steven Piper Foundation scholarship book.
