Mrs. Merrill’s Class Scores A Visit From Manu Ginobili

To sum it up, the students of Ms. Merrill’s 7th period class at Wrenn Middle School were selected as the grand prize winner of Manu’s Math Minutes contest. Spurs guard Manu Ginobili recently rewarded the students for improved math skills with a classroom visit and a game of math trashcan basketball.

Manu lead four teams against one another as they challenge for points by answering math problems to shoot a trash can basket, with the highest score winning the challenge.

Mrs. Merrill’s class was randomly selected as the grand prize winner out of a pool of over 150 classes participating in Manu’s Math Minutes challenge. Running from January 7 through February 7, Manu’s Math Minutes was a month-long program that challenged middle school students to improve their math skills one minute at a time. Based on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills for Mathematics, participating students had to score 90% on a minimum of ten of fifteen Manu’s Math Minutes exercises to be eligible for prize consideration.
