Matt Bonner Gobbles Up Turkey Games

In the true spirit of giving on Thanksgiving, Spurs guard Matt Bonner recently made a special visit to the students of Mrs. Camille Nevin’s 3rd grade class at Leon Spring Elementary School in Northside ISD. He was also be on hand to congratulate a very special 3rd grader -Hannah Friedrich for being the grand prize winner of the Spurs/Whataburger “What’cha Reading” contest.

Since the meaning of Thanksgiving is different for each person, Bonner chose to read "The Best Thanksgiving Ever!" by Teddy Slater to the students and discuss his best Thanksgiving memory. After he completed reading the book, the students were invited to play “Pin the Feather on the Turkey” and other turkey-games.

Through the 12th annual Spurs/Whataburger ”What’cha Reading” program, 25,000 San Antonio area 2nd – 4th grade students received incentive certificates for their successes in reading. Every student who earned a “What’cha Reading” certificate received a coupon good for a Justaburger Kids Meal from Whataburger. One student will be eligible to win a limo ride, four floor seats and dinner at a Spurs game. Also, four separate students will win Spurs Suite Tickets to an upcoming game.
