Spurs coach Gregg Popovich:
(On Damian Lillard’s excellent rookie year…)
“He is having a wonderful rookie year. He’s been very consistent with a great demeanor. He’s played well in a bunch of different ways. He has done a really fine job. He is going to be a heck of a player. He already is a heck of a player. I would imagine he’ll be a heck of a player in Portland for a long time.”

(On the Spurs having five consecutive days of practice…)
“We didn’t stay long all of those days like training camp or anything like that but it is a good opportunity to refresh some muscle memory stuff that gets a little bit lost in the translation as you play games.”

(On Manu Ginobili constantly working on his game…)
“He has done extra work his whole career and especially with his shot. He needs to feel comfortable with his shot. It is just a personal thing with him. He has had that time to do it and I think in the last couple of games he has looked a lot more rhythmic and has felt more confident in his shot.”

(On Danny Green improving his shot…)
“He pretty much feels the green light. It is not as green as it was for Chris Mullen but it’s pretty green. He’s done it all year long. The guys look for him now. He has earned the respect of his teammates. When he shoots it I think it is going in. If he is not shooting the ball I am not happy.”

(On Tiago Splitter’s defensive strengths that do not show up on the stat sheet…)
“He does his work early. He keeps people from ducking in and getting easy buckets. He changes some shots. He gets loose balls. He takes people away from their primary move that they want to make. He makes them go to their secondary or tertiary move. All those kinds of things do not show up in stats.”
