Sprite Slam Dunk Showdown Official Rules
No Purchase Necessary To Enter or Win.
Void in Quebec and Where Prohibited By Law.
Eligibility: Sprite Slam Dunk Showdown (“Promotion”) is open to legal residents (natural persons only) of the 50 United States, the District of Columbia, Canada (excluding legal residents of Quebec), and Mexico who are: (1) Men; (2) 18 years of age or older; (3) have not won a Grand Prize in any previous Sprite Slam Dunk competition, and (4) Not current members of any college or university basketball team or professional basketball team within or outside the United States. Note: All participants are personally responsible for understanding and following high school or intercollegiate athletic eligibility guidelines as it pertains to your participation in this Promotion (guidelines available at: http://eligibilitycenter.org/ECWR2/NCAA_EMS/NCAA.html). Employees, officers, directors, representatives and agents of the National Basketball Association (“NBA”) and its member teams, NBA Properties, Inc. (“Sponsor”) (collectively, “The NBA Entities”), The Coca-Cola Company, or any of their respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, governors, owners, distributors, retailers, bottlers, agents, assignees, advertising/promotion agencies, and Project Support Team, Inc. (“P/S/T”) (collectively, “Released Parties”) and the immediate family members (parents, spouses, siblings, children and their respective spouses, regardless of where they reside) and/or those living in the same household of any such individual, whether or not related, are not eligible to enter or win. This Promotion is subject to all applicable federal, state, provincial and local laws and regulations. Void in Quebec and where prohibited by law.
Promotion Overview: The Promotion will consist of two (2) components: 1) online and 2) on-site. Two (2) Semi-Finalists will be selected from the online portion of the Promotion and eight (8) Semi-Finalists will be selected from the on-site portion of this Promotion (one (1) per each on-site Event). All Semi-Finalist entries will be included in the Peer Voting Round to determine four (4) Finalists. Subject to the terms of these Official Rules, the Finalists will then advance to the Sprite Slam Dunk Showdown Championship Round to determine the Grand Prize winner.
IMPORTANT NOTE: By entering the Promotion, each participant represents that he is in good physical condition and that he has the physical capacity to participate in the Promotion and understands and accepts all risks associated with participation in the Promotion. Each participant also expressly acknowledges his understanding that the Promotion can be dangerous and can involve the risk of serious physical injury. Each participant represents that he is participating in the Promotion voluntarily, with full knowledge of the potential risks entailed and he is expressly, knowingly and voluntarily assuming the risk of any and all physical injury associated with or caused by his participating in the Promotion.
On-Site Event Judging For Round One, Round Two, the Semi-Final Round, and the Final Round:
Round One, the Semi-Final Round, and the Final Round will be judged by a panel of judges designated by Sponsor. During each of the following rounds: Round One, the Semi-Final Round, and the Final Round, contestants will be required to perform two (2) dunks each. Each dunk will need to be completed within two (2) minutes. Contestants will alternate dunks with the other contestants participating in each of the rounds listed above. Each contestant will be directed to participate in each round in the manner and according to the rules, procedures and conditions specified by Sponsor in its sole discretion. Only basketball(s) in the designated area that are provided by Sponsor will be used for the Event.
Scoring for all Rounds: The scoring for Round One, the Semi-Final Round and the Final Round is as follows: Each dunk attempted by a contestant during a round will be rated on a score of 6 through 10 based equally on the following judging criteria: (1) skill and (2) ability (“Judging Criteria”). The two scores received for each contestant in each round will be added to yield an overall score for each contestant the applicable round. Scores earned for one round will not be included in subsequent rounds.
Determination of Contestants Advancing to each Consecutive Round For Round One, the Semi-Finalist Round and the Final Round: The eight (8) contestants with the highest total score in Round One, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, will move on to the Semi-Final Round. The four (4) contestants with the highest total score in the Semi-Final Round, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, will move on to the Final round. The two (2) contestants with the highest total score in the Final Round, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, will advance to the Event Championship Round at the Event. Sponsor reserves the right to advance fewer contestants to each consecutive round if, in its sole discretion, it does not receive a sufficient number of eligible and qualified contestants. In the event of a tie in any round, a dunk-off (consisting of one dunk) will take place to determine the contestant(s) that will move on to the Event Championship Round based on the Judging Criteria. Any dunk-off will be repeated as necessary until the tie is broken. The dunk-off will be judged by the panel of judges designated by Sponsor. Time limit rules will also apply for any dunk-off.
Event Championship Round & Voting: During the Event Championship Round, contestants will be required to perform two (2) dunks. Each dunk will need to be completed within two (2) minutes. Contestants will alternate dunks with the other contestants participating the Championship Round. Each contestant will be directed to participate in each round in the manner and according to the rules, procedures and conditions specified by Sponsor in its sole discretion. Only basketball(s) in the designated area that are provided by Sponsor will be used for the Event. The dunks of each contestant during the Event Championship will be recorded and may be used as the video for the Peer Voting Round of this Promotion (as described below). Each Event Championship Round will be judged 50% by a panel of judges designated by Sponsor and 50% by an on-site fan vote at each Event Championship Round via text message only. For text message voting the letter “A” will be assigned to the contestant who goes first, and “B” for the other contestant. Fans will be directed to send a text message with their vote (either the letter “A” or “B”) to the number designated by Sponsor. Voting will commence once the Championship Round begins and will be closed five (5) minutes after the final dunk has been completed (the “Voting Period”).
Subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with these Official Rules, the contestant with the highest number of valid votes for the Event Championship Round will be crowned the 1st Place Prize Winner for such Event. Subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with these Official Rules, the contestant with the second highest number of valid votes for the Event Championship Round will be crowned the 2nd Place Prize Winner for such Event. In the event of a tie in the Event Championship Round, a one-dunk dunk-off will take place to determine the 1st Place Prize Winner for such Event. Any dunk-off will be repeated as necessary until the tie is broken. The dunk-off will be judged using the Judging Criteria by the panel of tie-breaking judges designated by Sponsor. Time limit rules will also apply for any dunk-off.

All votes must be received by the posted deadline to be eligible. Votes will be totaled by a panel of qualified independent judges selected by Sponsor, whose decisions will be final and binding in all matters relating to this Promotion. Contestants are prohibited from obtaining votes by any fraudulent or inappropriate means, including, without limitation, offering prizes or other inducements to members of the public, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. Number of votes per user is unlimited. Votes generated by script, macro or other automated means or with the intent to affect the integrity of the peer voting process will be void.
On-site Winner Verification: Immediately following the close of each Event Championship Round, the potential 1st Place and potential 2nd Place winners will be required to execute (where permitted by law) an Affidavit of Eligibility (or, if a Canadian resident, a Declaration)/Liability & a Publicity Release on-site and in the time period specified by Sponsor. Failure to comply with these Official Rules or to execute the above stated documents may result in disqualification and, at Sponsor’s sole discretion, the applicable prize may be awarded to the next runner-up from the Final Round of the applicable Event .
On-site Prizes:
1st Place Prize (8) (one (1) per Event): $1,000US awarded in the form of a check and one (1) video camera (exact make and model to be determined by Sponsor) (valued at $120US). In addition, each 1st Place Prize winner will be deemed a “Semi-Finalist” and automatically advance to the Peer Voting Round (as described below). Total Approximate Retail Value (“ARV”): $1,120 US each ($1,229.71CAD). 2nd Place Prize (8) (one (1) per Event): $500US awarded in the form of a check. ARV: $500 US each ($507.68 CAD).
General Prize Conditions: Prize awards are subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with these Official Rules. Prizes are awarded “as is” with no warranty or guarantee, either express or implied by Sponsor. Winners are responsible for all federal, state, provincial and local taxes (including income and withholding taxes) and any other costs and expenses associated with prize acceptance and use not specified herein as being provided. No substitution, cash redemption (if non-cash prize) or transfer of prizes is permitted, except by Sponsor, which reserves the right to substitute a prize (or portion thereof) with one of comparable or greater value. All prize details are at Sponsor’s sole discretion.
Sponsor reserves the right not to award all on-site prizes or not to advance any contestant to the Peer Voting Round if, in its sole discretion, it does not receive a sufficient number of eligible and qualified entries for any round of the Promotion.
Participation Details for All Methods of Entry:
General: All dunks MUST be performed on a ten (10) foot hoop. Any submissions containing dunks performed on hoops shorter than ten (10) feet will be disqualified immediately. Any contestant (in either method of entry) employing props that improve their jumping ability or bring them closer to the hoop will be disqualified. This includes the use of ladders, trampolines, pogo sticks, stilts, chairs, shoes with lifts or added bouncing ability and any other item that the Sponsor deems as aiding a dunker's reach, distance or height. Third parties MAY be used and are encouraged to aid in the theatrics of a dunk, but the Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify based on any third party help they see as aiding the dunker's height, distance or ability to reach the hoop.
Video Requirements: Video may not contain, as determined by the Sponsor, in its sole discretion, any content that: (i) is sexually explicit or suggestive, profane, violent or derogatory; (ii) promotes any activities that may appear unsafe or dangerous; (iii) is obscene, hateful or offensive; (iv) defames, misrepresents or contains disparaging remarks about other people or companies; (v) contains trademarks, logos, or trade dress (such as distinctive packaging or building exteriors/interiors) owned by other; (vi) contains any personal identification such as personal names or email addresses; (vii) contains copyrighted materials owned by others; (viii) contains materials embodying the names, likenesses, voices, or other indicia identifying any person other than the contestant; (ix) contains look-alikes of celebrities or other public or private figures, living or dead; (x) communicates messages or images inconsistent with the positive images and/or good will to which Sponsor wishes to associate; and/or (xii) violates any law.
If a participant submits a video entry, such video must be such participant’s original work, may not have been previously published, may not have won previous awards, and must not infringe or include materials that infringe or potentially infringe, upon the copyrights, trademarks, rights of privacy, publicity or other intellectual property or other rights of any person or entity. Videos containing prohibited content, or violating any law or these Official Rules will be void. Special effects added during production of any video are strictly forbidden. This includes any and all digital editing that takes places between the time when the dunker leaves the ground and the time when the ball goes through the hoop. Videos should show dunks only in their true form, without digital manipulation or additions. Videos containing such prohibited content will not be accepted.
Participants understand and acknowledge that the Sponsor has wide access to ideas and other materials, and that new ideas are constantly being submitted to it or being developed by their own employees, agents and contractors. Participants also acknowledge that many ideas may be competitive with, and/or similar or identical to, their videos/entries and/or each other in ideas, format or other respects. Participants acknowledge and agree that they will not be entitled to any compensation, credit or other consideration as a result of use by Sponsor or any of its designees of any such similar or identical material.
Ownership of Videos & Footage: Contestants who participate in an Event may be videotaped during their participation (collectively, “Footage”) and by participating, agree to such videotaping. All Footage and videos submitted by contestants will be owned by Sponsor, which will have the right, along with its designees, to use, edit, adapt, post, stream, copy and exploit such videos and Footage, and all elements embodied therein, including any names, voices, likenesses and performance embodied therein, in any and all media, now or hereafter devised, without further payment or consideration, notification or permission, worldwide and in perpetuity, except where prohibited by law. Without limiting the foregoing, by entering the Promotion and without limiting any other rights granted hereunder, each participant hereby grants permission for the Footage of him/her and/or his/her video (as applicable) to be posted on nba.com/dunk or other websites.
Entry Limits & Other Restrictions: There is a limit of one (1) entry per person and per e-mail address per of method of entry (total of two (2) potential entries). Additional entries received in excess of the stated amount from any person, e-mail address or household will be void and could render all entities from such person, email address or household void. Noncompliance with foregoing or with these Official Rules may result in disqualification and all associated entries will be void. Each participant agrees that Released Parties are not responsible for any unauthorized use of videos and/or Footage by third parties. Released Parties do not guarantee the posting of any video and/or Footage. Released Parties reserve the right to edit the videos and/or Footage for posting on nba.com/dunk as they deem necessary in their sole discretion & participants acknowledge & agree that Released Parties shall not be responsible for any alleged consequences of such editing. The use of script, macro or any other device to automate or subvert the entry process is prohibited and any such entries will be void.
Other than for prize notification or for promotional emails, neither Sponsor, nor anyone acting on its behalf, will enter into any communications with any participant regarding this Promotion or acknowledge any entry not meeting all entry requirements stated herein & all such entries will be void. Entries that are deemed by the judges and/or Sponsor in their sole discretion to be immoral, obscene, profane or not in keeping with Sponsor’s image or in violation of these Official Rules will be void. Released Parties are not responsible for incomplete, lost, late, inaccurate, delayed, undelivered, garbled, stolen, damaged or misdirected entries, registrations, votes or text messages (or any component thereof), inaccurate Promotion-related information provided by Sponsor or for interrupted or unavailable network, server, cable, satellite, Internet Service Provider (ISP), wireless or other connections, miscommunications, computer or software malfunctions or telephone line, cellular tower, or transmission problems or technical failures, garbled transmissions, damage to a user's computer equipment (software or hardware) or other errors or malfunctions of any kind whether caused by equipment, programming used in this Promotion, mechanical, electronic, network, technical or human error or otherwise relating to or in connection with the Promotion, including, without limitation, errors which may occur in connection with the administration of the Promotion, the processing or judging of entries, the uploading of videos, the cancellation or postponement of any Event, the tabulation of votes and/or text messages, the taping of onsite entries, the announcement of the prizes or in any Promotion-related materials. Released parties reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to void suspect entries or to modify, cancel, terminate or suspend Promotion (or portion thereof) should virus, bugs, non-authorized human intervention or other causes corrupt or impair the administration, security, fairness or proper play of the Promotion &, in the event of such cancellation or termination, at its discretion, determine the winner(s), Semi-Finalists and/or Finalist(s) for the applicable portion(s) of the Promotion from all eligible non-suspect entries received prior to event requiring cancellation or termination using the judging procedure stated herein. By participating, participants agree to abide by these Official Rules & the decisions of the Sponsor and judges, which shall be final & binding.
II. ONLINE
Online Judging: On or about 6/28/11 based on the following criteria, a panel of qualified independent judges (designated by Sponsor) will select the top two (2) videos submitted online: 1) originality/creativity of the submission: 0-30 points; 2) difficulty of slam dunk: 0-30 points; 3) video successfully showcases the entrant’s athleticism: 0-20 points; and 4) overall impression of the video: 0-20 points. The two (2) online entrants with the highest total scores based on above judging criteria will move on to the Peer Voting Round (subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with the terms of these Official Rules). In the event of a tie, entrant from among those tied with the highest score in originality/creativity (0-100 points) will be deemed Semi-Finalists move on to the Peer Voting Round. If a tie still exists, from among remaining pool of tied entrants, entrant with highest score in difficulty, athleticism and then in overall impression (0-100 points) (if and as necessary to break tie), will be deemed a Semi-Finalist move on to the Peer Voting Round. Semi-Finalist status is subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with these Official Rules. All judges’ decisions will be final and binding in all matters relating to this Promotion.
Notification of Online Semi-Finalists: The potential Semi-Finalists selected from among all online entries will be notified by telephone and/or overnight courier on/or about 6/30/11 and will be required to execute and return an Affidavit of Eligibility (or, if a Canadian resident, a Declaration) and a Release of Liability and (where legal) a Publicity Release within two (2) days of date of issuance of notification. Failure to comply with these Official Rules or to execute the above stated documents within the specified time period, Sponsor’s inability to contact a potential Semi-Finalist within a reasonable time period, or the return of a prize or prize notification as undeliverable may result in disqualification and, at Sponsor’s sole discretion, the applicable prize may be awarded to the next runner-up.
Online Finalist Prizes (2):$1,000US awarded in the form of a check and one (1) video camera (exact make and model to be determined by Sponsor) (valued at $120US) (Total ARV: $1,120US each ($1,229.71CAD). Prizes are awarded “as is” with no warranty or guarantee, either express or implied by Sponsor. Prize awards are subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with these Official Rules. Sponsor reserves the right not to award any prize, to advance fewer than two (2) online entrants to the Peer Voting Round or not to advance any online entrant to the Peer Voting Round if, in its sole discretion, it does not receive a sufficient number of eligible and qualified entries for the Promotion.
III. PEER VOTING ROUND:
From 7/11/11 at 3:00:00PM ET to 8/12/11 at 3:59:59 PM ET, the Semi-Finalists from each NBA Event (eight (8) total) and the two (2) Semi-Finalists from the online judging will be posted online at nba.com/dunk for peer voting (the “Peer Voting Round”). Individuals will be invited to follow the directions provided at www.nba.com/dunk to vote for the two (2) participants who they believe best demonstrate basketball “dunking” abilities in each category, by no later than 3:59:59 PM ET on 8/7/11. Individuals may vote as often as they wish. Votes generated by script, macro or other automated means or with the intent to affect the integrity of or subvert the peer voting process will be void. Participants are prohibited from obtaining votes by any fraudulent or inappropriate means, including, without limitation, offering prizes or other inducements to members of the public, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. Subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with these Official Rules, the four (4) Semi-Finalists with the highest number of valid votes, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, will be deemed “Finalists” and will move forward to the Sprite Slam Dunk Showdown Championship Round (as described below). In the event of a tie, such tied Semi-Finalists will be judged by a “tie-breaking” judge based on originality/creativity to determine the Finalist. Finalist status is subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with these Official Rules. Sponsor reserves the right not to select any Finalists if, in its sole discretion, it does not receive a sufficient number of eligible and qualified Semi-Finalists.
Finalist Notification: The four (4) potential Finalists will be notified by telephone and/or overnight courier on/about 8/22/11 and will be required to execute and return an Affidavit of Eligibility (or, if a Canadian resident, a Declaration) and a Release of Liability and (where legal) a Publicity Release within two (2) days of date of issuance of notification. Finalists must be able to travel to the designated location on dates specified by Sponsor or Finalist status and prize will be forfeited and may be awarded to a runner-up. Traveling companion of each Finalist must be of legal age of majority in his/her jurisdiction of residence (and at least 18) unless child or legal ward of Finalist and guest (or if guest is a minor, Finalist) will be required to sign and return a Liability Release and (where legal) Publicity Release prior to the issuance of travel documents. Released Parties are not responsible for lost, late, stolen, undelivered, delayed, damaged, postage-due or misdirected mail. Noncompliance with the foregoing, with these Official Rules, the inability to contact a potential Finalist within a reasonable time period or any notification being returned as non-deliverable may result in disqualification and, at Sponsor’s discretion, a runner-up Finalist may be notified (at the sole discretion of the Sponsor).
IV. SPRITE SLAM DUNK SHOWDOWN CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND:
Round One: The four (4) Finalists will be flown to the location designated by Sponsor (as described further in the Prizes section below) where they will have the opportunity to compete in the Sprite Slam Dunk Showdown Championship Round. For Round One, the Finalists will be required to perform two (2) dunks. Each dunk must be completed within two (2) minutes. Each Finalist will be directed to participate in each round in the manner and according to the rules, procedures and conditions specified by Sponsor in its sole discretion. Finalists will alternate dunks with the other Finalists participating in Round One. Each dunk will be rated on a score of 6 through 10 based equally on the following judging criteria: (1) skill and (2) ability (collectively, the “Showdown Judging Criteria”). The two scores received by each Finalist will be added to yield an overall score for Round One. The two (2) Finalists with the highest score in the Round One, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, will advance to the Championship Round, subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with these Official Rules. In the event of a tie in Round One, a one-dunk dunk-off (consisting of one dunk) will take place to determine which Finalist(s) will advance to the Championship Round based on the Showdown Judging Criteria. Any dunk-off will be repeated as necessary until the tie is broken. The dunk-off will be judged by the panel of judges designated by Sponsor. Time limit rules will also apply for any dunk-off. Scores from Round One will not carry over or be considered in the Championship Round.
Championship Round & Voting: For the Championship Round, the two (2) remaining Finalists will be required to perform two (2) total dunks. Each dunk must be completed within two (2) minutes. Each Finalist will alternate dunks with the other Finalist participating in the Championship Round. Each Finalist will be directed to participate in each round in the manner and according to the rules, procedures and conditions specified by Sponsor in its sole discretion. The Championship Round will be judged 50% by a panel of judges designated by Sponsor and 50% by an on-site fan vote at each Event Championship Round via text message only. For text message voting the letter “A” will be assigned to the contestant who goes first, and “B” for the other contestant. Fans will be directed to send a text message with their vote (either the letter “A” or “B”) to the number designated by Sponsor. The dunk-off will be judged by the panel of judges designated by Sponsor. Time limit rules will apply for any dunk-off. Sponsor reserves the right to cancel the Championship Round if, in its sole discretion, it does not receive a sufficient number of eligible and qualified Finalists.

Grand Prize Winner Notification: The potential Grand Prize winner will be notified and announced on-site and may be required to execute any additional documents required by Sponsor within a time period specified by Sponsor.
Prizes:
(4) Finalist Prizes: A trip for two (2) to an event location (length and location of trip to be determined by the Sponsor), consisting of round-trip coach air transportation from a major U.S. gateway airport nearest to Finalist’s residence, standard double-occupancy hotel accommodations (one (1) room), two (2) tickets to select NBA events (if applicable), the opportunity to participate in the Sprite Slam Dunk Showdown and ground transportation to/from the airport and the applicable hotel (ARV: $1,500US ($1,522.96 CAD). Actual prize value will vary depending on winner's city of departure. Sponsor, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to provide ground transportation in place of air transportation if Finalist lives within a reasonable driving distance of the event location as determined by Sponsor, and to award no additional compensation or substitution for the difference in prize value. Travel and hotel arrangements determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion and must be made through Sponsor’s agent, on a carrier of Sponsor’s choice. Trip must be taken on dates and times designated by Sponsor or prize will be forfeited in its entirety and may be awarded to a runner-up Finalist. Each Finalist and his/her guest must travel together on the same itinerary. Guest must be of legal age of majority in his/her jurisdiction of residence (and at least 18) unless child or legal ward of Finalist. Each Finalist and his/her guest are responsible for obtaining all necessary travel documents, including passports and visas, prior to travel. If events are canceled or postponed for any reason, travel prize will be awarded less applicable prize-related activity(s) and Sponsor will substitute that activity(s) with an item(s)/activity(s) of comparable or greater value as determined solely by Sponsor. Tickets are subject to certain terms and conditions specified thereon. Each Finalist and his/her guest must comply with each event venue’s rules and regulations. Each participant further agrees that by participating in this Promotion: (1) each entry (& all components thereof) will become property of the Sponsor and will not be returned; (2) Released Parties & their designees shall have the right & permission to use (unless prohibited by law) each participants’ name, voice, city & state of residence, photograph &/or likeness for advertising &/or trade &/or any other purpose in any media now or hereafter known without further compensation, permission, authorization or notification to participant, & (3) the Released Parties shall have no liability for, and such participant will release and hold harmless the Released Parties from, and indemnify the Released Parties against, any claim, liability, loss, injury or damage, including but not limited, to personal injury, death or damage to any participant or any other person or entity, personal or real property, due in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, by reason of such participant’s participation in this Promotion, the use of any entry for the Promotion by the Released Parties or such participant’s acceptance and/or use or misuse of any prize (including any travel or activity related thereto) or any of the rights granted herein. Released Parties are not responsible for any inability of the winner, Semi-Finalists and/or Finalists to accept a prize & reserve the right, at their sole discretion, to disqualify or eliminate any Finalist who is unable to travel on the dates specified by Sponsor or is otherwise not in compliance with these Official Rules. CAUTION: Any attempt to deliberately damage the website or undermine the legitimate operation of this Promotion is a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, the Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages (including attorneys’ fees) and/or other remedies from any such person(s) responsible for the attempt to the fullest extent permitted by law.
