The Sonics went overseas to select Johan Petro with their first-round pick in 2005, number 25 overall. A 7-footer with good size and athleticism, Petro played for Pau Orthez in France before being selected by the Sonics, averaging 5.1 points and 2.9 points in 2004-05 Euroleague action. Just 19 when he joined the Sonics, Petro adjusted to the NBA more quickly than expected and started at center on Opening Night as a rookie, becoming the youngest Opening Night starter in franchise history.
