Sonics Trade Moore to New Jersey

SEATTLE - The Seattle SuperSonics announced today they have traded center Mikki Moore to the New Jersey Nets in exchange for New Jersey’s second-round pick in the 2009 NBA Draft. The Sonics now hold two second-round draft selections in each of the next three NBA drafts.

"Mikki was always a true professional and we would like to thank him for all of his contributions on and off of the court," said Sonics General Manager Rick Sund. "We are pleased with the current depth of our roster in the post position and look forward to seeing what our three young centers bring to the court this season."

Moore signed with the Sonics as a free agent on Aug. 31, 2005 and appeared in 47 games during the 2005-06 season, his ninth in the league. During the season, he averaged 3.3 points and 2.8 rebounds in 12.4 minutes per game.

In 303 NBA games overall, the former University of Nebraska player holds career averages of 4.5 points and 3.1 rebounds per game. During the 2004-05 season, Moore’s eighth in the NBA, he appeared in 74 games with the L.A. Clippers, averaging 5.4 points, 3.3 rebounds and 15.9 minutes. Moore recorded a career-high 14 rebounds vs. the L.A. Lakers on Dec. 11, 2004
