Sonics Sign Leon Smith
The Seattle SuperSonics today signed 6-10 forward Leon Smith for the remainder of the season, General Manager Rick Sund announced.

Originally drafted out of high school by the San Antonio Spurs in the first round (29th pick overall) of the 1999 NBA Draft, Smith played with the Great Lakes Storm in the Continental Basketball Association this season. He was named to the CBA All-Star Game and the CBA All-Defensive Team while averaging 13.7 points and 9.8 rebounds in 19 games.

He has also played with the Gary Steelheads of the CBA during the 2001-02 season, when he averaged 16.8 points and 15.2 rebounds in 28 games.

Smith, who played 14 games with the Atlanta Hawks during the 2001-02 season, is expected to join the team for tonightís game in San Antonio.
