Sixers Television - Marc Zumoff and Steve Mix

With Emmy-Award winner Marc Zumoff handling the play-by-play duties and former NBA All-Star Steve Mix behind the microphone as color analyst for their 12th season together, fans will once again receive top-notch local coverage of the Sixers this season. Comcast SportsNet and WPSG (UPN 57) will combine to telecast 75 regular-season Sixers contests in the Philadelphia area in 2005-06.

This season, along with the 76ers, Comcast SportsNet will broadcast over 300 live professional and amateur sports events including Flyers, Phillies and Phantoms games. Comcast SportsNet combines action packed play-by-play coverage along with insightful sports news and talk programming to form the best regional sports network in the country.

The Sixers have teamed up with WPSG UPN 57 for the nineth-consecutive season. In 2005-06, UPN 57 will air a 10-game television slate. The Sixers have formed an outstanding partnership with the flagship station of the Paramount Stations Group, which began broadcasting Sixers games in 1996-97 after a five-year hiatus.

In addition to the outstanding on-air personalities, the Sixers broadcast team also has exceptional behind-the-scenes talent. Senior Director of Broadcasting Shawn Oleksiak returns for his 12th season leading 76ers broadcasts. The five-time Mid-Atlantic Emmy Award winner had been nominated for an Emmy in each of his first eight seasons. Oleksiak also serves on the NBA broadcast advisory committee.

    Marc Zumoff
Emmy-Award winner Marc Zumoff enters his 13th season as the Sixers television play-byplay announcer and his 25th as a part of the 76ers broadcast team. Zumoff, a Philadelphia native, was officially named play-by-play announcer on Aug. 17, 1994. He has been honored with an Emmy for best sports play-by-play broadcaster nine times.

Zumoff's various freelance assignments include hosting the news and public affairs show Radio Times with Marty Moss-Coane on the local National Public Radio affiliate WHYYFM. During the summer, he co-hosts several stops on the Sixers Summer Hoops Tour. He also appears regularly at community functions on behalf of the team and spearheads two annual charitable endeavors: the Tee off with Zumoff golf outing in September to benefit the Pathway School for learning disabled students and the Points for Peace 3-on-3 basketball tournament at the Palestra in March. He also runs a workshop on How to Break into Broadcasting, and he is co-authoring a book on the same topic.

Zumoff has done play-by-play for NBA-TV and for Turner Sports' coverage of the NBA, including both regular season and playoff games, the network's coverage of the Goodwill Games, as well as play-by-play for CN8's coverage of college football.

Prior to joining the Sixers broadcast team full time, Zumoff was a part of the now-defunct PRISM Sports Network and has done play-by-play for a variety of events and teams in the region, including the Philadelphia Flyers, the Philadelphia Big Five and the Philadelphia Fever of the Major Indoor Soccer League.

Zumoff broke into television as the play-by-play talent for the Fever which helped lead to his position with PRISM. During his days at Temple, Zumoff announced Owl football and basketball games. Following his graduation from Temple University, he had stints at WBUD and WTTM Radio in Trenton, N.J. and WHWH Radio in Princeton, N.J.

Zumoff lives in suburban Philadelphia with his wife Debbie and their two sons Jake (17) and Pace (13).

    Steve Mix
Steve Mix returns for his 20th season with the 76ers and 13th as the full-time color analyst, providing insight to the game that only a former player can provide.

Mix, a former 76ers forward and NBA All-Star, played 13 seasons in the NBA and ABA from 1969 to 1983. He logged time in 787 games where he scored 8,355 points for an average of 10.6 points per game. In his nine seasons with Philadelphia (1973 to 1982), Mix played on three teams that advanced to the NBA Finals (1977, 1980 and 1982). He held the 76ers single season steals record (212) from 1973-74 to 2002-03 when Allen Iverson broke his record with 225. He finished fourth all-time in career steals (851). He also went to the NBA Finals with the LA Lakers in 1983 where he finished his playing career.

Mix joined the Sixers broadcast team in 1987-88 analyzing road games on WPHL TV-17. However, he can lay claim to starting his broadcasting career in 1975 when after breaking his ankle in the second half of the season, he joined the legendary Bill Campbell for the radio broadcasts, finishing out the season behind the mic. After his playing career was completed, Mix began doing analysis for the University of Toledo basketball team on WSPD TV-13 and then for the Detroit Pistons on WKBD TV-50.

Throughout the off-season, Mix hosts the Steve Mix Basketball Academy in Maumee, Ohio. The Academy introduces young athletes to work ethic, understanding basic concepts, and the level of execution required to succeed at the next level. The goal has been to convert young athletes into players. Recently, Mix was honored by his hometown state as he was elected into Ohio’s Basketball Hall of Fame for his career accomplishments in the game.

A native of Toledo, Ohio, Mix played four seasons for the University of Toledo. Mix and his wife of 36 years, Maryalice, have four children: Darrick (34), Stephanie (28), Courtney (24), and Andrew (22).

The 2004-05 NBA season marks NBA TV's Fifth Anniversary. This season, NBA TV will air up to 96 regular season NBA games, continue its behind-the-scene coverage, and introduce new original series programming. NBA TV is available via satellite on DIRECTV and the DISH Network and through cable operators including Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cox and Cablevision.
