Training Camp - 10/3/2009 Report
Another morning session in the books for the Philadelphia 76ers, who are one final evening scrimmage away from concluding the 2009-10 Training Camp at Saint Joe's.
Head Coach Eddie Jordan again put the team through the offense today, using different combinations throughout the session to review the sets. He indicated after practice that this team does have a high basketball IQ - specifically naming Willie Green, Jason Kapono and Andre Iguodala - and has been very professional in their studies throughout camp.
Thaddeus Young said that one of Coach Jordan's favorite phrase during the past week has been "read and react," which is one of the key principles of the offense and the different options available to the guys each time down the floor. Young followed up that by saying that each player will essentially be reading the same defense, so everyone will be on the same page.
There was a lot of shooting drills during the early part of practice today, following extended full-court ball-handling and passing drills. Once again, the practice was a model of productivity, with the staff and players staying on schedule once again. They ended a little earlier than normal today, as tonight's second session will feature a full-team scrimmage.
GOOD ANSWER, JRUE
Jrue Holiday spent part of his interview talking about how he is just trying to work hard and earn his time from Coach Jordan, and he will contribute however he can and continue to do what he's asked. When told that while he might have had to scratch and claw his way on the court that Coach Jordan indicated that he does like him and what he brings to the table, Holiday replied, "Oh, I like him too."
FINAL SESSION
Tonight will mark the close of Philadelphia 76ers Training Camp at Saint Joe's and when the team practices again they will return to the their normal practice facility at PCOM.
The Sixers will have gone through three double-sessions and two single-sessions leading into their first pre-season game in London, Ontario on October 6 vs. the Toronto Raptors.
