Sixers Young expected to play tomorrow
Based on workout today, Young is expected to return to the line-up vs. Boston after missing last eight games with a right ankle sprain.
Philadelphia 76ers forward Thaddeus Young went through his most extensive work-out to date this afternoon and is expected to play tomorrow against the Boston Celtics.
Young, who sprained his right ankle against Atlanta on March 31 vs. Atlanta, played three-on-three this afternoon with Assistant Coaches Bernard Smith and Aaron McKie, as well as Royal Ivey, Marreese Speights and Samuel Dalembert.
The session lasted for approximately 30 minutes, and included a Young crossover on McKie that he finished with an emphatic two-handed dunk.
He followed the three-on-three game up by demonstrating he could cut both left and right, and then concluded his on-court activity with three sprints the length of the court. Later, he received treatment from Head Athletic Trainer Kevin Johnson.
Young is averaging 15.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.3 steals in 34.4 minutes per game. He has appeared in 73 games this season and was named as a starter on the NBA Sophomore Team during this season's NBA All-Star Weekend. In the three games prior to his injury, Young was the Sixers second-leading scorer at 16.3 points per game and posted a career-high 31 vs. Chicago on March 13, 2008.
Tickets are still available for tomorrow's Fan Appreciation Night vs. the defending champion Boston Celtics via ComcastTix.com or at the Sixers Box Office.
