Sixers meet with Monty Williams and Dan Majerle - 5/10/2010

Philadelphia 76ers President and General Manager Ed Stefanski met with Portland Trail Blazers Assistant Coach Monty Williams and Phoenix Suns Assistant Coach Dan Majerle in Phoenix, AZ today regarding the Sixers vacant head coaching position.

Joining Stefanski at the meetings with Williams and Majerle were Sixers Sr. Vice President and Assistant General Manager Tony DiLeo and Sixers consultant Gene Shue.

"Monty has proven to be a valuable asset on the bench in Portland," Stefanski said. "He has a wealth of experience both as an assistant coach and as a player in this league."

"Dan has been integral to the success of the Suns on both ends of the court this season," Stefanski said. "He has played for some of the best coaches in the history of the league and his approach to coaching is the same approach that made him so successful as a player - hard work, dedication and a team-first philosophy.

"We appreciate the opportunity we had to speak with both Monty and Dan today regarding our head coaching position."

The Sixers will release further information regarding the coaching search as it becomes available.
