Monty Williams Update - January 24

Forward Monty Williams underwent a diagnostic arthroscopic procedure on his left knee on Friday, January 24, 2003 that showed no further damage. The procedure took place at Tenet Graduate Hospital by Sixers team physician Dr. Jack McPhilemy. Williams will continue his rehab regiment.

Williams missed the first 18 games of the season after originally having arthroscopic surgery on his left knee on Oct. 25, 2002, to repair a medial meniscal tear. Williams, who was signed as a free agent by the Sixers on July 25, 2002, also missed the first four preseason games after being diagnosed with a small labral tear in his left shoulder that was sustained on Oct. 5, 2002, in training camp. After being activated on Dec. 3, 2002, Williams played in the first of his four games for the Sixers on Dec. 4 versus Boston. He left the Seattle game on Dec. 11 in the third quarter with a left knee bone bruise and was later placed on the injured list on Dec. 15.
