Sixers Waive Damone Brown and Ron Rollerson

PHILADELPHIA, PA - Oct. 23, 2002 - Philadelphia 76ers General Manager Billy King announced today that the Sixers have waived forward Damone Brown and center Ron Rollerson.

Brown, a 6-foot-8, 202-pounder, was the 76ers second round draft pick (37th pick overall) in the 2001 NBA Draft. The Syracuse University product played in six preseason games and was averaging 8.8 points and 4.5 rebounds in 24.5 minutes. As a rookie in 2001-02, Brown played in 17 contests, averaging 1.4 points, 0.2 rebounds and 0.1 assists in 3.9 minutes per game. He spent 51 games on the injured list with a lower back strain.

Rollerson, a 6-foot-10, 295-pounder, was signed by the Sixers on Oct. 12, 2002, and was averaging 3.7 points and 5.3 rebounds in three games this preseason. Rollerson, who was released from the Seattle SuperSonics on Oct. 9, 2002, averaged 2.6 points and 3.2 rebounds in 12.6 minutes per game over 126 career games for Temple University,
