Sixers To Hand Out Holiday Feasts

Gobble, Gobble! Members of the Philadelphia 76ers are preparing to reach out to the community during the week leading up to the Thanksgiving holiday through their involvement in a variety of outreach initiatives.

Sixers forward Marc Jackson has teamed up with the Greater Philadelphia Food Bank for the second-consecutive year and will donate 200 turkey dinners. Jackson, who was born and raised in North Philadelphia, will tip-off the holiday celebrations on Friday, Nov. 19, with a pair of turkey dinner giveaways. Following the Sixers practice, Jackson and rookie Andre Iguodala will deliver turkey dinners to two locations in North Philadelphia.

Sixers guard Allen Iverson, who has donated 150 turkey dinners through the Greater Philadelphia Food Bank, will visit West Philadelphia on Tuesday, Nov. 23. Iverson, Sixers guard Kedrick Brown and Ambassador of 76ers Basketball World B. Free will be on hand to distribute the turkey dinners to more than 150 families.

On Thanksgiving Day, Sixers guard Aaron McKie will host a Thanksgiving Day Dinner at the Liacouras Center (1776 N. Broad St.) for the third-straight year. McKie will host approximately 200 people from the Philadelphia-based Methodist Services for Children and Families from Noon until 1:30 p.m. for a holiday meal with all the trimmings.

The Nov. 26 76ers home game versus Washington (1pm) marks the conclusion of Aaron’s Food Drive. Throughout the entire month of November the Philadelphia 76ers and Comcast SportsNet have asked Sixers fans attending home games to bring a non-perishable or canned food item to the Wachovia Center, with all proceeds benefiting the Greater Philadelphia Food Bank.
