76ers turn up the heat with summer full of events! - 6/9/2010
Philadelphia, PA – June 9, 2010 – The Philadelphia 76ers will continue an off-season with a flurry of activities beginning with a Draft Party at the Wachovia Center on June 24. The off-season also features auditions for the 2010-11 Sixers Dancers and the 11th annual Sixers Beach Bash presented by KIA Motors.
Sixers Draft Party – Thursday, June 24
The Sixers invite fans to join them in the excitement of selecting the second overall pick in the upcoming NBA Draft with a Draft Party at Wachovia Center beginning at 4:00 p.m. Admission is free. The festivities will include appearances by Sixers alumni and players, a Draft Night Show on the event level with the NBA Draft broadcast live on the scoreboard, as well as food and drink specials.
Sixers Dancers Auditions – Saturday, June 26
For those who think they have what it takes to join the elite ranks of an NBA Dance Team, the Sixers will hold open auditions for the 2010-11 Sixers Dancers from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. (registration begins at 8:30 a.m.). Auditions will take place at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) located on 4190 City Avenue. Those interested in auditioning must be at least 18 years of age by June 1, 2010 and must have previous dance training. An application along with two photos (head shot and full-body shot) must be submitted at check-in along with a $20 audition fee. Applications can be found at SIXERS.COM.
Sixers Dancers Final Auditions – Wednesday, July 14
Chickie’s and Pete’s (1526 Packer Avenue) in South Philadelphia will be the site of the final auditions for the Sixers Dancers, beginning at 7:00 p.m. The 30 semi-finalists to advance past the first-round of auditions will perform as a group, then in groups of four, in front of a panel of judges. Admission is free and open to the public.
Sixers Beach Bash Presented by KIA Motors – Saturday, July 31
The Sixers Beach Bash presented by Kia Motors has something for fans of all ages, including the chance to meet Sixers players and front office executives. The event will be highlighted by the debut performance of the 2010-11 Sixers Dancers in an area outside of Jack’s Place designated for children and families. The activities outside at Jack’s Place are free to all fans. Admission to the bar area for fans age 21 and over will be $10, with all proceeds benefiting Sixers Charities, a division of the Comcast-Spectacor Foundation to help support local non-profit organizations. The event will be held rain or shine.
