76ERS AND COMCAST SPORTSNET PRESENT 2008 SIXERS BOOK DRIVE

Book Drive to take place March 28 in conjunction with Sixers game against Phoenix; all fans making donation receive invitation to post-game autograph session

Philadelphia, PA - March 24, 2008 - The Philadelphia 76ers community initiative "Drive For Kids" continues during "Reading Month" with the fifth annual Sixers Book Drive, held in partnership with Comcast SportsNet, on Friday, March 28. All fans attending the game against the Phoenix Suns are encouraged to bring a new, hardcover children’s book to the Wachovia Center. All fans who donate a book will receive a coupon to attend an exclusive post-game autograph session with Andre Iguodala and Jason Smith!

All books collected at the gate prior to the game will benefit Philadelphia READS, an independent, non-profit affiliate of the Greater Philadelphia Urban Affairs Coalition based in Center City, which helps to strengthen the literacy skills of Philadelphia’s youngest and neediest school children.

Continuing with the "Reading Month" tradition, a Reading Corner will be set-up at halftime in the Broad Street Atrium of the Wachovia Center. This area will be arranged as a reading lounge complete with beanbag chairs, pillows, bookshelves and the “Read to Achieve” banner. Children attending the games can visit the Reading Corner, where a guest reader will read a short story. Following the session, each child will receive a "Read to Achieve" bookmark and a new book.

The 2007-08 season marks the fifth consecutive season that the Philadelphia 76ers and Comcast SportsNet have teamed up for "Drive for Kids," a season-long initiative that includes a turkey drive, toy drive, coat drive, teddy bear drive and book drive to benefit children throughout the area. Last season’s successful campaign gave thousands of Sixers fans the opportunity to meet players while supporting numerous charitable organizations in the area.

Tickets are available online or by calling ComcastTIX at 800.298.4200.
