Sixers ask fans to donate toys, welcome veterans at Home for the Holidays event - 12/19/2011
PHILADELPHIA, PA – MONDAY, DECEMBER 19, 2011 – The entire Philadelphia 76ers team will welcome home Iraqi war veterans and collect toys for Toys for Tots at their “Home For The Holidays” event on Wednesday, December 21 from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. in the rotunda at The Shops at Liberty Place (1625 Chestnut St.).
Fans who bring a new, unwrapped toy to the event will receive a wristband allowing them into autograph sessions with select Sixers players and coaches, as well as a voucher for the team’s home opener on Friday, January 6 at 7:00 p.m. against the Detroit Pistons.
The team will also honor Iraqi war veterans who are based at Fort Dix and surprise their families with a special holiday gift.
Ambassador of 76ers Basketball World B. Free and the Sixers Dancers will attend, and Sixers Play-by-Play Announcer Marc Zumoff will emcee the event. The event also features activities for the entire family.
This event is part of the NBA’s “Season of Giving” campaign.
