Sixers Players to Provide 1,000 Thanksgiving Turkeys
PHILADELPHIA, PA. – NOVEMBER 15, 2012 – In the spirit of Thanksgiving, nine Philadelphia 76ers players will distribute turkeys to Philadelphia Housing Authority (PHA) families at their “Give N’ Gobble” event on Saturday, November 17 at the Boys & Girls Club located at the Wilson Park development (2500 Jackson St., Philadelphia, PA 19145) from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.
The players – led in this effort by center Kwame Brown and including guards Jrue Holiday, Evan Turner, Nick Young and Royal Ivey; guard/forward Damien Wilkins; and forwards Thaddeus Young, Lavoy Allen and Arnett Moultrie – purchased 1,000 turkeys in conjunction with the Philadelphia Housing Authority. The turkeys are being provided with help from Shady Brook Farms.
“We are thrilled and proud to partner with the 76ers players for this event,” said Kelvin Jeremiah, PHA’s Interim Executive Director. “For many of our residents, these players are heroes and role models who inspire them. It is gratifying to see the Sixers donate turkeys as well as their time to give back to the community during the holidays.”
The Sixers next host the Utah Jazz on Friday, November 16 at 7:00 p.m, followed by the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday, November 18 at 6:00 p.m. Sunday’s game will be the team’s second $1 Hot Dog Night of the season, courtesy of Dietz & Watson. Tickets are still available for both games online at SIXERS.COM, by phone at 215-339-7676 or in person at the Wells Fargo Center box office.
