PHILADELPHIA, PA. – NOVEMBER 5, 2012 – The Philadelphia 76ers will launch “Operation Rebound” – a relief program taking place in conjunction with the American Red Cross during November and December to benefit those affected by Hurricane Sandy – presented by ACME, during tonight’s home game against the New York Knicks at 7:00 p.m.

To coincide with the Philadelphia 76ers’ 50th anniversary season, the program will be tipped-off with a $50,000 donation by the Sixers ownership group to aid hurricane relief efforts. Sixers Managing Owner Josh Harris and his wife Marjorie will make a $20,000 donation, as will Sixers Co-Managing Owner David Blitzer and his wife Allison. Sixers CEO and Co-Owner Adam Aron and his wife Abbe will contribute $10,000.

ACME will serve as the retail partner for “Operation Rebound,” and will sell blue wristbands through the duration of the program to benefit the Red Cross. Additional details about an on-sale date for bracelets will made available at a later date.

The Sixers are encouraging fans to support the American Red Cross and help those affected by the storm by making donations via text or online. Fans can send “REDCROSS” to 90999 to donate $10, or make donations at RedCross.org.

During Monday’s game, the Sixers will show a public address announcement recorded by members of the team, asking fans to support the Sixers’ efforts by donating funds and blood at drives throughout the region.

In November and December, the Sixers will put game-worn, autographed sneakers and jerseys; autographed team basketballs and canvas prints; and one-of-a-kind experiences up for auction at www.SixersOperationRebound.com, with all proceeds directly benefitting the Red Cross.
