PHILADELPHIA, PA. – AUGUST 21, 2012 – The Philadelphia 76ers will take their game from the city to the seaside in a historic “Boardwalk Classic” match against the Brooklyn Nets at Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall (2301 Boardwalk, Atlantic City, N.J. 08401) on Saturday, October 13 at 7:00 p.m. The game is sponsored by Caesars Atlantic City, Global Spectrum with Longport Media serving as a promotional partner.

Tickets for the Boardwalk Classic are on sale now at www.TicketMaster.com and are available in the upper and lower level for between $10 and $49 (excluding courtside and premium seating).

“We are delighted to add Sixers basketball to the thriving entertainment in Atlantic City, and we truly appreciate their hospitality during our Boardwalk Classic weekend,” said Sixers CEO and Co-Owner Adam Aron.

“This game can only further the unique rivalry between these two organizations – a series of battles including some of the 76ers’ all-time greats; and now, some of today’s team stars in Andrew Bynum, Jrue Holiday and Evan Turner. As we celebrate 50 years in the Philadelphia region, we’re excited to tip off a year’s worth of memories with this special event.”

The Boardwalk Classic will mark the third meeting of the Sixers and Nets at Boardwalk Hall, the first two being wins for Philadelphia. On October 9, 1982, a Sixers team led by Head Coach Billy Cunningham and game-high scorer Darryl Dawkins beat the Nets in a 93-91 victory. The following year, on October 8, 1983, Moses Malone had 19 points and Julius “Dr. J” Erving added 18 points to lead the Sixers to a 117-113 overtime win.

"Atlantic City is a premier entertainment destination and we're proud to partner with the Philadelphia 76ers to bring yet another big league sporting event to Historic Boardwalk Hall this fall," said Don Marrandino, Eastern Division President for Caesars Entertainment.

"Partnerships and events of this magnitude are what continue to help grow our market and position the City as one of the top entertainment destinations on the East Coast. A key tactic in the strategy of revitalizing Atlantic City is offering events such as this at a time when it is most needed.  We as a business community benefit from the thousands of fans who will choose to visit our destination that weekend and we look forward to a historic pre-season match up between the new-look Sixers and newly minted Brooklyn Nets," continued Marrandino.

“Global Spectrum is delighted to bring Philadelphia 76ers basketball and the National Basketball Association to Atlantic City,” said Global Spectrum Chief Operating Officer John Page. “Boardwalk Hall is a magnificent facility with a rich history and tremendous potential. We're very excited to present this preseason NBA game to basketball fans throughout South Jersey.”

Originally built in 1929, Boardwalk Hall is listed on the National Register of Historic Landmarks. It underwent a three-year, $90 million renovation to improve the building’s original Roman Renaissance style with 21st century comfort and amenities. Since reopening in 2001, Boardwalk Hall has been recognized as Atlantic City’s premier entertainment venue, known for high profile concerts, family shows and sporting events.
