Tatooine … Vulcan … Altair IV … the Wachovia Center! The Philadelphia 76ers host an “Out-of-this-World Sci-Fi Night” when they battle the New Jersey Nets at the Wachovia Center on Saturday, March 22 at 7pm. Fans are encouraged to dress as Sci-Fi movie stars and in their finest space suits, as the first 10,000 fans receive free Glo Sticks to set a space-aged scene inside the arena.
For a sneak peak, check out 76ers Jason Smith and Shavlik Randolph in their own hilarious rendition of Star Wars.
While the "Battle of the Turnpike" heats up on the court against the Nets, the Sixers will search the Wachovia Center for the best-dressed Sci-Fi enthusiast, who will beam home with a $500 cash prize. Meanwhile, world famous icons from Star Wars, including Storm Troopers, Ewoks and Jawas, will roam the concourse during the celebration of Sci-Fi.
"Based on the popularity of Star Wars, Star Trek, and other Sci-Fi films, our fans are excited to be part of this special night," said Lara Price, 76ers Senior VP of Business Operations. "Our players even added to the fun by reciting lines and acting out scenes from famous Sci-Fi movies. We will play back that priceless footage on the scoreboard throughout the Sci-Fi Night."
Sci-Fi Network will supply 500 Cooler Bags for all fans in two lucky sections at the game. Additionally, one Sixers fan will win a weeklong admission into Space Camp plus airfare to Huntsville, AL for the one-of-a-kind experience.
Tickets for all home games including Sci-Fi Night against New Jersey are available online or by calling ComcastTIX at 800.298.4200.
