On how he thinks his relationship with Iverson will be during the games…
“I don’t anticipate it being a battle. This is Allen Iverson’s team. I feel that I can take a little bit of pressure (off of him).”
On what he feels about coming to Philadelphia…
“I like the city of Philadelphia. As far as being traded and getting bounced around a bit, that’s the nature of the business. That’s the nature of the NBA. It’s not a bad thing to play for different teams.”
On what he thinks he can bring to the game along with the rest of the team…
“I know defense is one area that I can improve in. Everybody has to know each other’s personality. It’s all about helping each other out.”
On his feelings about his offensive style…
“I want to get a lot of medium-range shots out there. Every time Iverson gets the ball he’s relentless and you just have to be ready. I’m prepared for it.”
On what he felt when he found out he was coming to Philadelphia…
“I immediately got excited because I’ll have a chance to win again. The last few years I’ve been out of the playoffs. I just want to get back to being in the playoffs and playing on national TV.”
On what kind of adjustments either he or Allen Iverson will have to make in order to play together…
“I don’t think it’s going to be a big adjustment. I’ve had other opportunities to play with guys who like to handle the ball. I think having more teammates that have depth is key.”
On his feelings about his year in Atlanta…
“They guaranteed that they were going to make the playoffs and that was before they acquired me. But I’ve said all along, nothing is guaranteed. But we knew all along that we needed to improve, and we had to set goals.”
On whether or not he has spoken to any of his new teammates…
“I spoke to Allen last night. He was very excited. We both wish the season could start right now. I’m very excited, I’m playing for a positive team, and I’ll have a chance to win again.”
On how he got his nickname, “Big Dog”…
“My nickname came from college. When I was at Purdue a maintenance man saw us playing a pick-up game, and I caught a tip-dunk and he said, ‘You’ve got to move over and let the Big Dog eat’. Ever since then I was called the Big Dog.”
On whether or not he felt this trade was necessary to counteract with what other teams have done…
“I felt that we needed to get better. I just thought that where we were we would’ve been a good team but I think making this move put us in position where at least now where we can compete.”
