Sixers unable to keep up with Cleveland
Highlights
Despite a 26 point outburst from Andre Iguodala, which featured 8-11 shooting from the field, the Sixers were unable to take down the Eastern Conference’s top-seed, falling to LeBron James and the Cavaliers, 102-92, in front of a sellout crowd Friday night at the Wachovia Center. The win was Cleveland’s league-high 64th, perching the Cavs even higher atop the Eastern Conference standings then when they arrived in Philadelphia, while the loss saw the Sixers remain painted sixth in the east’s playoff picture.
"Their (the Cavaliers’) offense is very good," said Iguodala. "They do a great job of setting picks. I think that’s the hardest I have been hit in a while. It’s hard to stop a guy that is 6’8, 250-pounds (LeBron James), after he sets a screen and rolls to an open area on the floor."
After coming out of the gate quickly, the Sixers held a six point, 10-4, advantage with 7:08 remaining in the first quarter. However, by the end of the frame the Cavaliers commanded a four point lead, 23-19, from which they would never look back.
After trailing by as many as 10 points in the second quarter, the Sixers did make a run at Cleveland in the early stages of the second half, thanks to a 21-15 flurry that cut the lead to four, 67-63, when Reggie Evans dropped in a layup with 2:35 left in the third. But that would be as close as Philly would get.
With game-highs of 27 points and 10 assists, James turned in his 29th double-double of the season, while keeping the Sixers at arms length throughout most of the game.
Aside from Iguodala’s 26 points, the Sixers received 17 points apiece from both Andre Miller and Lou Williams.
Philadelphia returns to action on Sunday, when they travel north of the boarder to take on the Raptors in Toronto at 6:00 pm on CSN.

Postgame Interviews
Postgame Quotes
Head Coach Tony DiLeo
On tonights game:
Of course we are disappointed. We thought we could win the game and we thought we had a chance. We played one of the top teams in the league. I thought we did some good things, we just didn’t do enough good things to win the game. There are things we could build on, our defensive effort was good tonight. Overall I saw some positive things there and going into the game the team really felt we could win. They felt we really had a chance, and those little breakdowns just hurt us.
On Andre Iguodala’s game performance:
He had the ball in his hands a lot and he was doing a lot of things. We got 31 free throw’s, 10 more free throws then them, and I realize they got more three pointers, but our game is more attacking and getting to the rim. A few of the three’s were open, but they made some great contested ones as well. Andre has been playing at a high level and he has to. There isn’t a lot of time to rest him or Andre Miller. He was guarding maybe the best player in the league, and for the most part did a good job on him. He has to carry the load on the offensive end too. I like the way Andre played tonight.
On the physical aspect of tonight’s game being similar to that of the playoffs:
We approach these games as playoff games. We want the mentality of the playoff game, we want the mindset to be a playoff game and playoffs will be physical. Even though we lost the game, it’s still preparing us for the playoffs. We played one of the best teams in the league; it’s a physical game. It’s all going to be playoff atmosphere so it is only preparing us.
Philadelphia 76ers Guard/Forward Andre Iguodala
On the lack of Cavaliers’ contested threes:
Well they just made some tough shots for the most part. Our rotation was there. We may have been a little late on some shots, but for the most part I think our first 20 seconds of defense was aggressive and was where we needed it to be, but then they knocked down a shot with the remaining seconds on the shot clock.
On if Andre Iguodala thought he should’ve gotten more shots tonight:
I just try to stay within the flow of the game. The bigs are doing a good job trying to help out and double off pick-and-rolls, so I’m just trying to stay in a good flow and not force anything. But I felt like I could have (had more shots) somewhere in the third quarter.
On LeBron James:
He does a good job of really changing his pace, stop and go, and he has a couple tricks up his sleeves: how to get by you. I think tonight he made them (Sixers offense) take some outside shots and really didn’t give them a whole lot of looks at the basket. The (Cavaliers) offense is really good, though, they do a good job of setting picks. That’s the hardest I’ve been hit in a while. It’s hard to stop a guy that’s 6’8’’ 250 (pounds).
Philadelphia 76ers Guard Willie Green
On tonight’s game:
We gotta do a better job on defense, obviously. We haven’t been getting it done lately. We’ve got to find a way to string together a couple of wins.
On how the Sixers can improve:
I think the key is to know our ball pressure. Teams are getting into the teeth of our defense and kicking out for the easy threes and we just can’t let that happen. To be a good team, it starts on defense. Our whole offense is predicated off our defense. When we can play good “d,” we can get out and run and play how we like to play.
