Cavaliers 91, Sixers 90- April 14, 2008 - Wachovia Center | Box Score | Highlights

What seemed to be a decisive victory for the 76ers in their final home game of the regular season, was put to a screeching hault almost two minutes after regulation.

Lou Williams’ fade away jump shot with 5.9 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, put the Sixers ahead and almost out of reach, 90-89. A great defensive stop by Samuel Dalembert denied LeBron James access to the rim with 0.9 seconds left, but a putback by Devin Brown caused the referees to review the play after regulation. After further review, instant replay revealed that Brown was fouled with 0.2 seconds left in regulation. Brown stepped up to the line, sunk both free throws, and awarded the Cleveland Cavaliers with the victory, 91-90.

Andre Miller led five Sixers in double figures with 26 points, on 11-of-20 shooting, while gathering a game-high six assists and four rebounds. Miller was an integral piece to the Sixers offense midway through the contest, as the Sixers guard went on to score the final six points of the first half for his team and then the first eight points of the second half for the Sixers.

With 7:59 remaining in regulation, Thaddeus Young’s fastbreak dunk ignited an 8-0 Sixers run that closed their deficit to three, 77-74. Williams scored four points in that particular run, while going on to score 12 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter. Young added 11 points off the bench, on 5-of-11 shooting.

The Sixers kicked off the game on a 6-0 run, four of which were in the open court. They went on to outscore the Cavs in transition, 20-11.

Dalembert, Reggie Evans and Andre Iguodala combined for 27 of the team’s 42 rebounds and Willie Green chipped in with 11 points and five rebounds in the starting line-up.
