In December, the Sixers announced a partnership between the charitable arm of their organization, SIXERS STRONG, and Special Olympics Pennsylvania (SOPA); rookie Michael Carter-Williams was named the team’s spokesperson for the partnership.

“Sports have taught me so much in life, and I’m proud to serve as the spokesperson for an organization that makes it possible for everyone to play,” said Carter-Williams at the time of the announcement.

On Saturday, he helped send off SOPA’s delegation for this year’s Special Olympics Games at a pep rally at Wells Fargo Center, speaking in front 200 athletes before they boarded busses for the games in North Jersey.

On Sunday, he led Team Pennsylvania at the Opening Ceremonies, joining model and actress Brooklyn Decker in hosting the event.
