Sixers Name Jim McNulty Director of Sports Medicine

McNulty has been associated with the 76ers since 1987 as a physical therapy consultant.

PHILADELPHIA, PA - Sept. 30, 2002 - The Sixers have named Jim McNulty director of sports medicine, 76ers General Manager Billy King announced today. McNulty will oversee the medical staff.

As director of sports medicine, McNulty will act as the liaison between the team, players, physicians and agents, while continuing to ensure that the health of the players from rehabilitation to recovery as well as injury prevention is maintained.

McNulty has been associated with the 76ers since 1987 as a physical therapy consultant. He started his career path in 1987 with former Sixers President Pat Croce as a sports physical therapist in Croce’s Broomall, Pa. office. In 1993 when NovaCare purchased Croce’s Sports Physical Therapists Inc. franchise, McNulty remained throughout the transition and continued to operate as a consultant. In addition to his work with 76ers players, he has worked with players from the Phillies, Flyers and Eagles while serving as the Area Vice President for NovaCares outpatient rehabilitation centers in Eastern Pennsylvania. McNulty began as a biophysical engineering major and attended Franklin and Marshall College from 1982 to 1985. He switched majors to physical therapy and completed his studies at Temple University from 1985 to 1987. He is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

McNulty and his wife, Kathleen, have a daughter, Lynne (16) and son, Michael (12), and reside in suburban Philadelphia.
