KIA MOTORS AMERICA JOINS AS PRESENTING SPONSOR OF 76ERS ANNUAL SUMMER HOOPS TOUR

Kia Motors America (KMA) has been named as a presenting sponsor of the 76ers annual Summer Hoops Tour. Starting its 12th summer, the tour begins with the annual tip-off event on Thursday, June 21, at Emanuel Recreation Center in Philadelphia at 2 p.m.

As part of the sponsorship, the 76ers will travel from site-to-site in a new Kia Sedona minivan and Optima sedan, courtesy of Kia Motors America. Kia also will have a caravan of cars present at five stops on the tour where people will be able to speak directly to Kia Motors representatives about their full line of vehicles. These stops will include July 10 at the Greater Burlington YMCA, Burlington, NJ; July 12 at the Norristown PAL, Norristown, PA; July 17 at Decou Courts, Cherry Hill, NJ; July 19 at the Western Newark YMCA, Newark, DE; and August 7 at Phoenixville High School, Phoenixville, PA.

“Kia places a significant importance of connecting with youth through community outreach programs such as this one” said Alex Fedorak, director of public relations for KMA. “We’re also happy to strengthen our partnership with the 76ers and look forward to working side by side with them to bring the Summer Hoops Tour to life.”

Continuing its tradition, the 2007 Summer Hoops Tour will provide youngsters throughout the Philadelphia-area the opportunity to improve their basketball skills and learn from Ambassador of 76ers Basketball & Director of Player Development World B. Free, along with other members of the 76ers and front office staff. Participants will be led through a series of drills and games emphasizing the fundamentals of shooting, passing, dribbling, defense, rebounding and the importance of teamwork.

“We are excited about the continuing growth of our partnership with Kia Motors America as we work together to grow the sport of basketball throughout the city, state and region,” said 76ers Senior Vice President of Basketball Operations Lara Price.

The Summer Hoops Tour is free of charge and open to children of all ages. Each clinic lasts approximately 90 minutes and no pre-registration is necessary. Free will be accompanied by the 76ers mascot, Hip-Hop, while 76ers play-by-play announcer Marc Zumoff and radio voice Tom McGinnis will serve as emcees for the clinic.
