According To The Experts:
Perhaps no player has seen their stock improve more over the last 12 months than Jusuf Nurkic. A 19-year-old with the frame of a player many years his senior, Nurkic saw his minutes increase threefold as a member of Adriatic League club Cedevita last season. He made the most of the opportunity, averaging 11.7 points (54.5 FG%) and 5.7 rebounds in 16.6 minutes per game (28.2 points and 13.7 rebounds per 40 minutes).
Nurkic has drawn favorable comparisons to fellow European big man Nikola Pekovic (MIN) because of his impressive size, strength, and proficiency on the offensive glass (2.7 of his 5.7 rebounds per game came on the offensive end). He also possesses a reliable outside jump shot and showed the ability to step out to just inside the three-point line while playing for Cedevita.
“He has an amazing balance and mobility for the center position ... He possesses a really solid and robust frame, almost 280 lb, combined with a solid 7’2” wingspan, so he’s well suited to banging in the post at the NBA level ... He possesses excellent footwork which makes him really effective in pick and roll situations.” – NBADraft.net
“High upside. Possesses NBA All Star potential ... Combo forward in the mold of a Jamal Mashburn who shows the ability to face the basket as well as play in the post ... Huge 7'3 wingspan gives him the ability to play bigger and more athletic ... Solid kid with strong work ethic ... Good touch on his shot ... Developing some quality offensive moves ... Very good handle for a forward.” – NBADraft.net
“He plays with energy and intensity below the boards, he’s not scared of contact …Good rebounder. Defensively he has a great potential with his remarkable lateral speed and quick hands ... He has a remarkable feel for the game and basketball instincts, with several of the offensive possessions of his team usually passing through his hands.” – NBADraft.net
