Allen Iverson Quotes - October 9
On his current status…
“I felt like I could play yesterday, but they wanted me to sit out. I asked to practice and got the clearance today. I am ready to go and I will play tomorrow night in Washington.”
On the fracture of his right third finger…
“It is healing. I hurt it a couple times during the mini-camps and in the beginning training camp. The pain usually went away after a few minutes, but this time the pain didn’t go away. But it felt pretty good today. Its strong and it’s not as sore as it was. I will be ready to go tomorrow night ”
Are you worried about getting hit on your hand?
“I don’t think about things like that. I just try to play the game the only way I know how, and hope God blesses me. Once you start thinking about getting hurt, nine times out of 10 it happens.”
On the original prognosis of sitting our two to three weeks…
“They always say guys are going to be out 4 to 6 weeks, 8 to 10 weeks, it all depends on your body and how well you heal. I don’t think a doctor can tell you an exact time you are going to be out. Some guys heal faster than others, but it just seems like I bounce back pretty quick.”
On the injuries this year…
“It’s important for us to all be on the court, we need to start off the season a little better than what we are used to. We are always starting off with a bunch of injuries. This year. hopefully by the time we play the first game, the only one we are missing is DC (Derrick Coleman). DC is a vet, he can get into the mix easily. He just knows that game so well, he will be able to come in and gel quickly.
On the game last night…
“I felt good watching the young guys come out and play hard. For them to just get thrown in the fire like that, a lot of time you get butterflies and you get nervous. I was telling John Salmons that he was going to be scared, but he said he wasn’t. I told him, I have been playing in this league for six years and I still get butterflies before I get on the court. He was just trying to be tough.”
