Iverson Named Player of the Week

NEW YORK, Jan. 22 -- Philadelphia 76ers guard Allen Iverson was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week, for games played Monday, January 14 through Sunday, Jan. 20.

Iverson, who captured his second Player of the Week award this season, led the Sixers to a 3-0 record by averaging 41.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 5.7 assists. Here is a look back at the past week for Iverson:

Allen Iverson, Philadelphia 76ers

  • Tuesday vs. Houston: Recorded a career-high 58 points (21-of-42) in the Sixers 112-106 OT win over the Rockets. His 58 points ties Wilt Chamberlain for the fourth position in Sixer scoring history.
  • Thursday at Charlotte: Scored 33 points while adding four, rebounds, four assists and two steals in a 93-88 win over the Hornets.
  • Saturday vs. New York: Had 34 points, five rebounds and seven assists in a 97-89 win over the visiting Knicks.

    Other Eastern Conference candidates for NBA Player of the Week were Detroit's Jerry Stackhouse, Miami's Eddie Jones and Alonzo Mourning, Milwaukee's Ray Allen and Toronto's Antonio Davis.
