Iverson Named NBA Player of the Month for January
On Fri Feb 1 Philadelphia 76ers guard Allen Iverson was named Eastern Conference Player of the Month for games played in January.
Iverson led the Sixers to an 11-4 record by averaging a league-high 32.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 2.27 steals.
This is Allen Iverson's 3rd career Player of the Month award (January 2001 and February 1999). Iverson was also Rookie of the Month twice (April 1997 and November 1996).
Here is a look at highlights from the month for Iverson:
Jan. 7 vs. L.A. Clippers: Recorded 30 points, 10 rebounds, 11 assists and four steals in a 116-92 win over the visiting Clippers. Jan. 15 vs. Houston: Scored an NBA career and season-high 58 points in a 112-106 OT win over the Rockets. Jan. 25 at Boston: Had 47 points, five assists and four rebounds in a 106-90 win over the Celtics. Earned back-to-back Player of the Week honors on Jan. 21 and Jan. 28. Scored 30 or more points nine times, including a streak of seven consecutive games.

Chris Webber of the Sacramento Kings was named Western Conference Player of the Month Other Eastern Conference candidates for NBA Player of the Month included Boston's Paul Pierce, Detroit's Ben Wallace and Jerry Stackhouse, Miami's Eddie Jones, New Jersey's Jason Kidd and Washington's Michael Jordan.
