Support Caps for Kids and Meet Andre Iguodala!

Hats off to 76ers sensational rookie Andre Iguodala! On Wednesday, April 20, when the Philadelphia 76ers host the Atlanta Hawks at 7 p.m. at the Wachovia Center, the Sixers will be celebrating NBA Rookie of the Year candidate Andre Iguodala’s outstanding rookie season with a special lineup of activities. The first 5,000 kids, 12 and under, will receive a replica No. 9 black Iguodala jersey. Additionally, a new segment of the 76ers Drive for Kids initiative will be introduced - “Andre’s Caps for Kids Drive.” All fans who bring a new kids hat to the game will have the opportunity to attend a special meet-and-greet with the Sixers standout rookie afterwards.

All hats for “Andre’s Caps for Kids Drive” will be donated to pediatric oncology units at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children, St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, American Cancer Society’s Camp Can-Do and The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia - New Jersey Section of Hematology and Oncology. This season the 76ers have had tremendous success with “Kyle’s Coat Drive” (over 1,400 coats donated), “Willie’s Book Drive” (over 900 books donated) and “Samuel’s School Supplies Drive” (over 800 school supplies donated).

Sixers alumnus Darryl Dawkins is scheduled to sit down with Igoudala to review his best dunks of the season and give a name to each one. This segment will be seen in arena and on Sixers.com with portions also airing during the game broadcast. A life-size cut out of the 6-foot-6 guard showing his 80 ½ -inch wingspan will be located on the 11th Street Mezzanine Level of the Wachovia Center where fans can measure up. There will also be trivia and fun facts about Iguodala throughout the night, including a highlight video featuring Iguodala’s top 10 dunks throughout the season that fans can first vote for on Sixers.com.

Selected by the 76ers in the first round (9th overall) of the 2004 NBA Draft, is averaging 8.9 points, 3.0 assists, 5.8 rebounds and 1.68 steals per game and is the only Sixers player to start every game this season. Earlier this season against Detroit (3/23), Iguodala became just the second rookie in franchise history to record a triple-double (10 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists). Defensively, Iguodala has been called upon all season long to guard the opponent's top perimeter scoring threat and has earned recognition as the team's top defender.
