Philadelphia 76ers President Billy King announced today that the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets have rescinded a trade that would have sent Sixers center/forward Steven Hunter to the Hornets in exchange for two second-round picks in the 2006 and 2007 NBA Drafts. The two teams originally announced the trade last Wednesday, Feb. 1 pending a physical.

"Unfortunately, the Hornets doctor disagreed with our doctor, as well as an independent doctor's evaluation of Steven,” King said. “He did not miss practices or games and we are confident that he will return to us and play healthy the rest of the season. We are shocked by this, but will move forward."

After a week of speculation, the trade was reversed because the Hornets did not feel that it was in their best interest to complete the transaction.

"After compiling a wealth of medical information, we determined that it would be in our best interest to void the trade," said Hornets General Manager Jeff Bower. "We appreciate Steven's patience during this process and wish him the best of luck back in Philadelphia."
