Annual community initiative sponsored by Aquafina
Philadelphia, Pa. – June 24, 2011 – The 76ers’ Summer Hoops Tour, sponsored by Aquafina, will tip off its 16th summer on Friday, June 24 at the Salvation Army Kroc Center (4301 Wissahickon Ave., Philadelphia, Pa.) at 2:00 p.m.
Ambassador of Sixers Basketball World B. Free will once again host the series of basketball clinics that take place throughout June, July and August in the Greater Philadelphia Region, including Delaware and the Jersey Shore. Free will frequently be accompanied by Sixers television play-by-play announcer Marc Zumoff and radio voice Tom McGinnis, who will serve as emcees for many of the clinics.
Continuing in its tradition, the 2011 Summer Hoops Tour will provide children the opportunity to improve their basketball skills during the 90-minute clinic. Participants will be led through a series of drills and games emphasizing the fundamentals of shooting, passing, dribbling, defense and rebounding, all while reminding them of the importance of teamwork.
After debuting with 14 locations in 1996, the Summer Hoops Tour has grown tremendously during its 16-year existence and will include 44 clinics this summer. The Pepsi Bottling Group will provide Aquafina water at each stop.
