Sports Fans Encouraged to Attend Block Party on Friday, April 11 to Avoid Traffic Congestion

Sports fans attending one of the three sporting events at the South Philadelphia Sports Complex on Friday, April 11, are encouraged to arrive earlier than usual to enjoy the free Bud Light Block Party at the Wachovia Complex, beginning at 4 p.m.

The Block Party, which is free and open to anyone holding a ticket for any of the three events on Friday at the Sports Complex, is a fun way to beat the crowd and enjoy live music, interactive games and food and drink specials.

The Philadelphia 76ers will host the Indiana Pacers at the Wachovia Center beginning at 7 p.m. while the Philadelphia Phantoms will host the Hershey Bears at the Wachovia Spectrum at 7 p.m. and the Phillies will host the Chicago Cubs at Citizens Bank Park at 7:05 p.m.

"There will be plenty of parking for everyone," said Comcast-Spectacor President Peter Luukko. "We are encouraging all fans to arrive earlier than usual and to consider using alternative methods of arriving at the South Philadelphia Sports Complex. The Block Party is a great way for fans to have fun before the game, especially those arriving early."

Phillies fans can also enjoy Citizens Bank Park as early as 4:35 p.m. where they can watch batting practice and stroll through Ashburn Alley. The entrance is through the left field gate. All other gates to Citizens Bank Park will open at 5:35 p.m.

Traffic tips, parking availability and maps are available on Comcast-Spectacor’s website (comcast-spectacor.com) and through the Phillies web site at (phillies.com).
