Sixers Broadcast Team Receives Emmy Nominations
The Philadelphia 76ers television broadcast team is once again being recognized for producing one of the top telecasts in the Mid-Atlantic region, and is looking to take home top honors in September.
Comcast Sports Net has received two nominations for Mid-Atlantic Emmy Awards for its 76ers coverage. Play-by-play announcer Marc Zumoff was nominated for the award of Outstanding Individual Achievement in Play-by-Play or Color. The 76ers broadcast crew, led by Senior Director of Broadcasting Shawn Oleksiak, received a nomination for Outstanding Live Sports Coverage/Series.
Zumoff has been part of the 76ers broadcast team for the past 23 years. The 2005-06 season will mark his 12th as the team’s play-by-play announcer. He has won eight previous Emmy awards for best sports play-by-play broadcaster.
“I think anytime your efforts go recognized, no matter what it is that you do in life, it’s a great thing,” Zumoff said of the nomination. “I’m pleased that I could do it in the name of 76ers basketball.”
"Marc is a true broadcast professional,” Oleksiak said. “He is very deserving of this honor. Marc’s positive attitude and enthusiasm are infectious in the work place. this recognition stems from hard work and accomplishment.”
Oleksiak’s crew has now been nominated for an Emmy in each of the 11 seasons that he has led the broadcast. Of those 11 nominations, Oleksiak has won the award five times.
“This nomination is the result of intense efforts by several professionals on behalf of the 76ers, Comcast-Spectacor and Comcast Sports Net,” Oleksiak said. “I’m extremely honored and proud to play a part in a tremendous collaborative effort. Anytime your peers around the country judge your body of work to be a success, it brings an incredible, gratifying feeling.”
