1. Philadelphia Daily News -- McKie looking to make a point with LA
Aaron McKie is getting $19.5 million from the 76ers and another $5 million from the Los Angeles Lakers, but he is not getting to wear his familiar jersey No. 8 with his new team. That's because Kobe Bryant holds claim to No. 8 with the Lakers.

2. Camden Courier-Post -- Injuries behind him, Camden's Wagner set for return to NBA
Dajuan Wagner was in his world on a recent evening at Camden High School. The former Camden star was playing on the very floor where he became a high school legend, playing with people who are familiar to him, some of them former teammates. Wagner smiled and laughed and he played basketball, the thing he loves to do so much.

3. ESPN.com -- Six gunners among summer's free agents
Naming the game's best 3-point shooter isn't as easy as that little contest at All-Star Weekend would have us believe.

There's an interesting marriage that could develop in Philadelphia very soon. Fallen future star Dajuan Wagner, victimized by injury and illness over his first three seasons in the league, could join Allen Iverson with the 76ers.

Willie Green thanked 76ers fans yesterday for their prayers and support as he recovers from surgery to reconstruct the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

2. Philadelphia Daily News -- Rehabbing Green thanks fans
Injured 76ers free-agent guard Willie Green won't be able to play for 6 to 9 months, but he says he already has begun his rehabilitation.

3. Calkins Newspapers -- Green vows return from knee injury
Willie Green can't wait to play again. Green, who underwent surgery Aug. 16 to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament suffered in a summer league game in late July, issued a statement Tuesday in which he vowed to return to the NBA.

1. Philadelphia Inquirer -- McKie lands with the Lakers
The choice was a simple one for Aaron McKie. McKie, released by the 76ers this month in a move designed to help the team avoid paying the NBA luxury tax, took a two-year, $5 million deal from the Los Angeles Lakers over a one-year, $1.1 million offer from New Jersey.

2. Camden Courier-Post -- Camden's Wagner has great workout with Sixers, agent says
As a star player at Camden High School, Dajuan Wagner used to sit in the front row of the Wachovia Center and watch the 76ers. Wagner, 22, has moved a lot closer to his hometown team in recent days.

1. Philadelphia Daily News -- McKie reaches agreement on 2-year deal with Lakers
The Temple connection to the 76ers has been disconnected. First, Marc Jackson was traded to the New Jersey Nets. Now, Aaron McKie has agreed in principle to join the Los Angeles Lakers.

2. Philadelphia Inquirer -- Korver preps for the long run
A typical 76ers minicamp session for Kyle Korver during the last few days looked something like this: Shoot the three. Run the break. Tear after a loose ball. Stop a drive. Mix it up inside. Hit a jumper on the run.

Having averaged a little more than six points a game over three seasons for Duke University, 6-foot-10 rookie forward Shavlik Randolph was not brought in for his scoring prowess by the Sixers.

Louis Williams could write a book on how he spent his first summer after graduation from high school. But it wouldn't be your typical book.

Louis Williams gambled that he could make the jump from high school to the NBA.

The 76ers have contacted free-agent guard/forward Michael Finley, president/general manager Billy King confirmed yesterday. Finley was waived by Dallas on Monday under the NBA's amnesty provision.

2. Philadelphia Inquirer -- Sixers will take time to fill the Green void
Two weeks ago, when he revealed that Willie Green had suffered a knee injury in a pickup game, 76ers president and general manager Billy King talked of needing an alternate plan if Green were to miss a significant amount of time.

3. Philadelphia Inquirer -- NBA | McKie met with Nets but has no decision
Former 76ers guard Aaron McKie has met with the New Jersey Nets but will wait until after the weekend before deciding where he will play during the 2005-06 season, McKie's agent, Leon Rose, said yesterday.

Willie Green was days away from $17 million. Now, he is 6 to 9 months away from recovery after significant surgery yesterday on his left knee. And the $17 million is still floating out there, unclaimed.

2. Philadelphia Inquirer -- Sixers' Green gets bad news
Willie Green didn't seem to be fearing the worst before he underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee yesterday. But the 76ers guard ended up getting the worst possible news.

3. Delco Daily Times -- Green won't be able to play until February
Willie Green's future in the NBA won't begin until at least February. Green, the Sixers' restricted free-agent guard, underwent arthroscopic surgery Tuesday at St. Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham, Ala. Dr. James Andrews performed the procedure with Dr. Jack McPhilemy, the Sixers' team physician, assisting.

Billy King was clearly choked up, even though the 76ers' president and general manager had made the inevitable move yesterday of putting guard Aaron McKie on waivers.

The jubilation that 76ers general manager Billy King showed while announcing the signing of 23-year-old free agent Steven Hunter yesterday merely masked his overwhelming feeling of distress.

Calling it the toughest thing he's had to do in his career with the 76ers, president Billy King waived veteran guard Aaron McKie on Friday.

When the 76ers traded Marc Jackson to the New Jersey Nets on Tuesday, president and general manager Billy King said the team would go after a frontcourt player and a perimeter player. One player the Sixers have apparently targeted is Phoenix unrestricted free-agent center Steven Hunter.

The Comcast Corp., the country's largest cable provider, said yesterday that profits jumped 64 percent in the second quarter, buoyed by demand for digital television and high-speed Internet services.
