1. Phila Inquirer -- 76ers add a shooter to roster for camp
Results of the games played in the NBA's summer leagues are seemingly insignificant, but the performances are taken seriously.

2.Phila Daily News -- Forward added to camp roster
The 76ers officially added 6-8 forward Josh Davis to their training-camp roster yesterday. Davis' NBA experience - four games with the Atlanta Hawks last season - is minimal, but in 40 games with the Idaho Stampede he became the Continental Basketball Association's Most Valuable Player and Newcomer of the Year.

3.Philly Burbs -- Sixers sign CBA MVP Davis to contract
PHILADELPHIA - Free agent forward Josh Davis signed with the Philadelphia 76ers, team officials announced Monday.

- The Sixers: OK, it's only training camp. But in just a few weeks, man, it'll be time to PRACTICE! We're gonna get to see all these new guys PRACTICE. Can you stand it? Are you kidding me?

1. Phila Daily News -- CBA's Davis close to signing deal
The 76ers are close to signing free-agent forward Josh Davis, last season's Most Valuable Player in the Continental Basketball Association.

2. Phila Daily News -- Sixers: Doctor, Moses and Charles
Billy Cunningham, the 76ers' coach, was heading for the 10th tee in Pinehurst, N.C., on a lovely summer day in 1982 when owner Harold Katz summoned him to New York that evening for the signing of Moses Malone.

It is apparently going to be OK to be a whistle-blower in the NBA this season with the referees' union close to finalizing a new 5-year contract with the league.

2. Phila Inquirer -- 'Philly Fan' sets the stage for venting
Until this week, the Philadelphia fan - a forlorn creature long accustomed to seeing bet-the-house victories turn into ignominious defeats - had few places to turn in his suffering. He was reduced to pouring yet another drink or calling WIP and joining Vic from Voorhees in a strident demand for the head of Larry Bowa.

3. Allentown Morning Call -- T.O.'s debut will likely mean more later
There have been other saviors across Philadelphia's long, tortured sporting history, other guys before Terrell Owens who were brought in to make good teams great, to put them over the top.

All-around enthusiast Pat Croce staged a premiere bash for his new daytime TV show, Pat Croce: Moving In, yesterday at Chickie & Pete's South Philly eatery and pulled a surprise out of his Winnebago: supervising producer Vance DeGeneres.

The high point of Greg Buckner's time with the 76ers came July 25, 2002, when he signed a 6-year guaranteed contract worth $18 million. After that, some brief flashes notwithstanding, things went mostly downhill.

The tough defender was considered surplus for the Sixers. Denver may be his next destination.

The Funkmaster Flex Celebrity Car Show Tour coming to the Liacouras Center this weekend will feature some ride styles of Philly's famous: the Eagles' Hollis Thomas is lending his '70s-era Olds 442 (orange with white stripes) and Sixers star Allen Iverson is sending over one of his two Bentleys.

It's hard to believe, but it is already time for NBA teams to put the final touches on their plans for training camp, which will get under way Oct. 5.
