LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL BANDS BATTLE IT OUT AS 76ERS TAKE ON ORLANDO ON WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 27 AT 7 P.M.

Camden, Lower Cape May and Upper Perkiomen compete for spot in finals of Sixers' Battle of the Bands Presented by Gatorade

Philadelphia, PA - February 26, 2008- Members of high school bands from Camden, Lower Cape May, and Upper Perkiomen battle in the stands in the second installment of Battle of the Bands when the Philadelphia 76ers take on the Orlando Magic at the Wachovia Center on Wednesday, February 27 at 7:00 PM. The local high school bands are competing for a $500 cash prize courtesy of Gatorade, and a spot in the Battle of the Bands Championship, to be held on Saturday, April 5 during the Sixers game against Atlanta.

“The 76ers are thrilled to be partnering with local schools to give their students an opportunity to display their talents in the Battle of the Bands, while adding another exciting element to the game night atmosphere for our fans,” said the Sixers’ Lara Price, Senior Vice President of Business Development.

The bands will have multiple opportunities to display their talents and entertain the crowd during the game, and fans can text in throughout the night to vote for their favorite ensemble. The winning school will be announced during the fourth quarter, and will become the second Battle of the Bands finalist- joining Salesianum High School in the championship round. Schools taking part in the third qualifying round on Friday, March 28th, are Haddonfield Memorial High School, Pleasantville High School, and Nazareth Area High School.

The finals of the Battle of the Bands Championship presented by Gatorade will be held during the Sixers game against Atlanta game on Saturday, April 5 at 7 p.m. at the Wachovia Center. Gatorade will award the champions a prize of $1,000 cash for their school band.
