When did you come up with the "The Answer" for Allen Iverson?
The Answer is...not my doing! Allen says the nickname was simply given to him by the guys who used to play ball with him while growing up in Hampton, Virginia.
Why does Allen Iverson tap his left arm before shooting free-throws?
During the season, Iverson wore an armband with "RA". The letter stood for Rahsaan Langeford, his best friend, who was killed in October of 2001. He touched the pad before every free-throw in memory of Langeford.

What do you mean by "in the weight room"?
"The Weight Room" is a term I borrowed from the outstanding book "Hoops Nation," by Chris Ballard. Ballard and three friends travelled the nation in a van in search of the country's best "pick-up basketball." There's a glossary of playground basketball terms in the book and one of them is "the weight room," which simply designates the lane area that's around the basket.

Can you explain the new rules about zone defenses?
It's not something that's easy to do. Please

Why are team fouls kept?
Team fouls are kept to try to hold down the total number of defensive or loose ball fouls a team commits in a quarter. This is done by penalizing a team that commits four team fouls by awarding the offended team with two free throw attempts on any defensive or loose ball foul, whether or not the offended player is in the act of shooting. By the way, no matter how many fouls a team has committed in the first ten minutes of a quarter, that team is only permitted to commit one team foul in the final two minutes of a quarter before the penalty is put into effect. If a team has committed three or fewer fouls before the final two minutes of the quarter, it is therefore said to "have a foul to give," that is, it can commit a defensive or loose ball foul without sending a team to the line (unless of course the offended player is in the act of shooting). And of course just to keep this point clear, offensive fouls never count as a team foul.

How long did Steve Mix play in the NBA?
Steve played 13 seasons in the NBA, from 1969 through 1983. He played for Detroit, Milwaukee, the L.A. Lakers and a total of 9 seasons with the 76ers. In his best season 1974-75 he averaged 16 ppg and 11 rpg. And did you know Steve still holds the 76ers record for total steals in a season with 212!

Why is Steve Mix called the Mayor?
When Steve Mix played for the 76ers, he was deadly from an area about 17-19 feet from the basket along the right baseline (right as you face the basket). He was so good at hitting his jumper from this area that Bill Campbell, the legendary sportscaster and former voice of the 76ers nicknamed the area "Mixville," and Steve became known as the "Mayor of Mixville." As Bill Campbell would say, "Oh brother!"
