On Tuesday, April 1 from noon to 1:00 p.m., Philadelphia 76ers players Thaddeus Young, James Anderson, Henry Sims and Hollis Thompson will join employees from both the Sixers and PECO to help plant trees, flowers and shrubs in the Lemon Hill area of Fairmount Park (on Sedgely Road near the intersection of Sedgely Road and Kelly Drive, Philadelphia, PA). Representatives from the Sixers and PECO will address the employee volunteers and players at approximately noon before ceremonially planting a tree and beginning the day’s refurbishment project.
Tuesday’s event is a part of the team’s “Threes for Trees” program, presented by PECO. For every three-point shot made by the Sixers at home games, PECO will donate one tree seedling to be planted in the Philadelphia region.
When the Sixers host the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday, April 5 at 7:30 p.m., the team will celebrate “Go Green Night,” presented by PECO. The first 5,000 fans in attendance will receive an eco-friendly tote bag, courtesy of PECO. Throughout the game, the team will show vignettes featuring planting tips and ways to make homes more energy efficient and eco-friendly.
