Sixers Game Preview

Sixers Dancers hold launch party for 2009 Swimsuit Calendar

The Sixers Dancers held a launch party Friday night to unveil the team’s first ever calendar at Pinsetter Bar & Bowl in Pennsauken, N.J. Fans came from all over the Greater Philadelphia Area to meet and greet with their favorite Sixers Dancers, purchase calendars, and participate in an auction for signed posters from the Dancers Calendar shoot.

The calendar was shot at Waterfront Spa & Salon in Philadelphia, where the girls had their hair and make-up done. This was among their favorite part of the shoot, as well as having a chance to model on camera.

“A lot of work went into preparing for the calendar,” said first-year Sixers Dancer Jessica. “We had a strict work-out routine to get in shape for the shoot.”

The girls weren’t the only ones excited about the unveiling. Avid Sixers Dancers fan Dave Rogers of Minersville, PA. traveled just over two hours to be a part of the event.

“It’s neat because every other squad has one, and now we do. So for me, it’s exciting to be a part of it,” said Rogers. “I’m going to have all the pages signed and get a protective cover for it.”

Philadelphia resident Angelo Moore came out to show his support for the girls.

“It came out beautiful,” said Moore, who attends nearly every home game. “As a fan, I want to support these young women who are doing something with their lives. They have gotten further than most people their age, so it’s something to be proud of.”

The night proved to be an all around success for the Sixers organization as the calendar was unveiled and the team overcame a 26 point first quarter deficit to defeat Indiana 94-92. Adding to the already energized atmosphere of the launch party, Sixers fans cheered in unison at the end of the barn burner when the Sixers pulled out a remarkable victory over the Pacers.

The Dancers and fans alike were pleased with the outcome of the inaugural calendar and are looking forward to continue contributing to the production of the Dancers calendars in upcoming seasons.

“It’s been a great experience for us,” said first-year Sixers Dancer Janeen. “We’re all looking forward to doing another one, and now that we’ve done one, we all know what to expect next time.”

If you were unable to make it to the launch party, you can still buy the Sixers Dancers Swimsuit Calendar online and at the Wachovia Center. It's also included in the Dave & Buster's Guys Night Out Package.
